Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ali Roumani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Sheppards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carl Sheppards will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ali Roumani! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carl Sheppards! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roumani fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sheppards manages to avoid it. Sheppards's coach down at The GYM (20 elite coaches on the Island !!!) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Sheppards's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Sheppards fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Roumani misses with a straight left. Sheppards throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Sheppards throws a jab when Roumani was well out of range. Roumani showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sheppards.
An attempted straight right counter from Roumani misses the target. Roumani gets a double leg takedown into Sheppards's guard. Roumani trying to control but Sheppards is working from the bottom. Roumani not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roumani trying to control the position from guard on top but Sheppards is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sheppards is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roumani has gone for a leg lock! Sheppards slips out almost immediately though and dives into Roumani's guard.
Roumani working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sheppards doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sheppards manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Roumani keeping moving, preventing Sheppards from controlling successfully. Roumani seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Sheppards would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Roumani controls Sheppards momentarily but Sheppards frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sheppards stays in close to Roumani's body and controls the position. Sheppards tries to stand but Roumani is controlling from the bottom. Roumani keeping moving, preventing Sheppards from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roumani looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Roumani is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Roumani scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Sheppards throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Roumani throws the left hand but Sheppards avoids the punch easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sheppards throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
It looks like Ali Roumani has been cut. Roumani with a body punch. A glancing blow. Sheppards misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Roumani.
Roumani was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Sheppards misses the shot to the body. Roumani throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sheppards connects with a body shot. Sloppy strikes from Sheppards. Those never looked like landing. Sheppards rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Roumani moves out of range and avoids them all easily. An attempted straight right counter from Roumani misses the target. Sheppards misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Roumani.
A little feinted left hand from Roumani on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Sheppards misses with a body shot.
Sheppards scores with a jab. Roumani acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Sheppards is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Roumani rather than just go for the knockout. Roumani is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sheppards. Sheppards tries to move into range but Roumani moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Sheppards throws a right and a left that both miss. Roumani avoids a punch combination nicely.
A quick step to the side and Roumani tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sheppards staying out of range there. Roumani feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Roumani trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Roumani drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sheppards looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sheppards looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sheppards! You can see the frustration on Roumani's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Sheppards tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Sheppards just content to control the position. Sheppards is continuing to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carl Sheppards dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ali Roumani's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Good exchange - Sheppards coming out on top. Sheppards blocks a jab. As Roumani backs off Sheppards throws a huge counter combo but Roumani manages to avoid it all. Roumani closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sheppards did well to prevent Roumani getting side control. Sheppards wants to control but Roumani is keeping busy and won't allow it. Roumani is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Roumani works his way into side control. Sheppards struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sheppards is looking to regain half guard here but Roumani keeps moving and retains side control. Sheppards wants to get back to his feet. Roumani trying to control the action but Sheppards is working from the bottom. Roumani tries for a kimura but Sheppards is defending well. Roumani has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Sheppards!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Roumani tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Roumani goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sheppards turns into him and now he's in Roumani's guard.
Sheppards must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sheppards trying to control but Roumani is working from the bottom. Roumani escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sheppards gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Sheppards is looking to stand up but Roumani won't let him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roumani looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Sheppards puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Roumani controlling the position for now. Roumani is trying to get back to full guard. Roumani looking for submissions off his back. Sheppards performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Roumani looking for submissions off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Roumani trying to control but Sheppards postures up.
Sheppards with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Roumani is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sheppards is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Roumani manages to get to full guard. Sheppards would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ali Roumani dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Ali Roumani's cut. That's time! Roumani's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Roumani swings for the body but Sheppards moves out of range.

A shot to the body from Roumani misses and Sheppards cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Carl Sheppards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roumani ducks right into an uppercut from Sheppards. Roumani changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Roumani uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sheppards. Roumani moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Roumani throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sheppards stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Roumani swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A punch combination from Sheppards misses. Roumani throws a hook but Sheppards avoids it easily. Roumani shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sheppards but Sheppards pushes him off and we're back to square one. Carl Sheppards is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Sheppards counters with a three punch combo that has Roumani backing up. Roumani nods at Sheppards to acknowledge the strikes. Sheppards looks to score with a jab to the body but Roumani is just out of range. Jab by Sheppards. Sheppards uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Roumani.
Roumani shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Roumani showed some decent athleticism there. Roumani is pressing down on Sheppards's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sheppards is holding on for now. Roumani looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Sheppards wants to get back to his feet. Sheppards controlling the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roumani is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sheppards sees it coming and defends easily. Sheppards trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Roumani manages to pass to mount!
Roumani wants to control the pace but Sheppards is squirming around nicely. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sheppards defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Roumani. Roumani looking to control and managing it successfully. Sheppards is trying to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sheppards is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Roumani wants to control the pace but Sheppards is squirming around nicely. Sheppards tries to hold on but Roumani postures up. Ali Roumani overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Sheppards is controlling an arm, preventing Roumani from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sheppards trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Sheppards wants to control from the top but Roumani keeps moving. Sheppards is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Roumani trying to control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ali Roumani. I think Roumani has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
