Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lyman Tran! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mario Pereira ! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pereira rushes Tran and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Tran has Pereira pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pereira manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Pereira is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Tran is keeping busy. Pereira pulls guard. Pereira should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Tran throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pereira works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Pereira trying to control the position.
Pereira has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Tran has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Tran drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tran is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pereira pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyman Tran. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pereira misses with a knee strike.
Tran drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Pereira gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Pereira drags the fight down to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pereira is trying to keep Tran in close.
Pereira seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Pereira keeping moving, preventing Tran from controlling successfully. Tran knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pereira on the ground. Pereira trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Tran trying to stand up but can't free himself from Pereira 's guard. Tran gets to his feet - Pereira follows without any prompting. Tran gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pereira to score an easy takedown into full guard. Pereira with a nice head shot there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tran being controlled here, momentarily. Pereira decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Pereira tries to clinch but Tran moves out of range. Tran is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Pereira . Tran avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Pereira tries to clinch up. Pereira drives through with a takedown into guard. Pereira trying to control the position from guard on top but Tran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pereira trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Tran throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Pereira scoring with punches to the head and body. Tran will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tran has an active guard here but Pereira has managed to pass into half guard.
Tran is breathing heavily. Pereira is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pereira lands with a punch from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mario Pereira dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Pereira . Pereira tries for a kimura but Tran is defending well. Tran tries to bench press Pereira off him but Pereira keeps the position. Tran is not content to let Pereira control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pereira lands a nice forearm strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pereira is working to tighten his grip on Tran's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Tran has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Pereira is really squeezing tight and eventually Tran passes out! Pereira breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
