Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Samin Ax!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Peter McBain!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBain with a nice cross.
McBain is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McBain throws a right and a left that Ax avoids nicely.
Ax attempts a counter takedown but McBain avoids it well and moves away.
McBain fakes the leg kick and cracks Ax in the body.
McBain pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ax back to the cage. McBain follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Ax is rocked!
McBain fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Oh Ax is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ax takes a kick to the side of the head.
McBain swinging wildly here.
McBain pushes Ax away with a front kick.
Ax seems to have got his legs back now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McBain swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McBain defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ax.
That's one minute gone in the round.
McBain uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ax.
Ax avoids the head kick by McBain.
Ax shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McBain counters with a stiff right hand.
Ax shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McBain cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samin Ax. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McBain looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ax throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McBain's waist but McBain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ax off to one side.
McBain has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ax is landing a low percentage of strikes.
McBain throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ax counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Ax looks to land a strike but McBain avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Ax trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ax in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
McBain uses the cage to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McBain scores with a three punch combo!
McBain lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Peter McBain is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
