Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darius Badolato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arvo Pentti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Badolato comes to the cage accompanied by Nneka - Heartbeat. Pentti has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
31 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darius Badolato! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arvo Pentti! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pentti takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Badolato misses the jab. Badolato ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Badolato moves into range and connects with a jab. An inside leg kick lands from Badolato. Pentti swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Badolato looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Pentti avoids the body shot from Badolato.
Badolato lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Badolato, right into the meat.
Badolato scores with a nice head shot. Badolato connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pentti. Pentti circles away out of range and recomposes himself. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Badolato throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Pentti takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Badolato misses with a series of wild punches.
Pentti thinks about the counter body kick. Badolato needs to keep his hands up - Pentti had a free shot at his head there. Badolato slips a jab from Pentti.
That's one minute gone in the round. A bone on bone clash there as Badolato blocks the leg kick.
Badolato tries a head kick but it misses.
Pentti tries to counter with a clinch but Badolato shakes him off and moves away. Badolato attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Arvo Pentti is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Badolato stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Pentti. Pentti on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Pentti slips a straight right by Badolato. Pentti looks like he wants to counter punch here. Badolato turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Pentti with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Badolato to score with a decent uppercut. Badolato lands with a slapping head kick. Badolato connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Pentti ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Badolato moves away. Badolato fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pentti looks to score with a jab to the body but Badolato is just out of range. Badolato works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A good leg kick by Badolato. Pentti takes a body punch but keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pentti on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Pentti tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Badolato is able to avoid easily. Pentti takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Badolato closes the distance and clinches up with Pentti, looking for a takedown. Badolato pushes Pentti against the cage but Pentti circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Badolato fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Pentti lands a head shot. Pentti fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Badolato manages to avoid it. Badolato feinted with a counter takedown. A punch lands to the side of Badolato 's head but he takes it in his stride. Pentti rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Badolato counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Pentti looks winded! Badolato working Pentti over with strikes. Badolato is pressing down on Pentti's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pentti is holding on for now. Badolato lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Badolato wants to take a breather but Pentti is having none of it. Badolato seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Pentti wants to get back to his feet.
Badolato looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pentti with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Badolato throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Pentti to regain full guard. Badolato wants to pass the guard but Pentti is keeping the position. Badolato cracks Pentti with a solid left hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Badolato showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Badolato trying to control but Pentti is working from the bottom. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Badolato throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pentti moves out of range of the body kick from Badolato.
Pentti misses with a hook
and Badolato counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Badolato lands a couple of decent looking shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Darius Badolato dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Badolato catches Pentti with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Badolato ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Badolato lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Badolato lands a nice looking kick to the body. Pentti takes a step back to recover. A solid leg kick lands there for Badolato.
Badolato throws a nice looking combination but Pentti bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Badolato drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Badolato postures up in Pentti's guard and throws a big left but Pentti blocks it. Badolato working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Pentti looking for a sweep. Not yet Pentti, not yet. Pentti is breathing heavily. Badolato landing some decent shots from guard. Badolato controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Badolato landing with the ground and pound. Badolato pushes down on Pentti's leg and manages to get into half guard. Badolato is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Badolato works his way into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Badolato wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pentti keeps working. Badolato wants to take a breather but Pentti manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Badolato. Badolato controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Badolato throws an elbow that misses. Pentti uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Badolato's guard. Nice move by Pentti! Badolato trying to control the position.
Badolato wants to sweep here but Pentti controlling him for the moment. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pentti working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Pentti is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Badolato looking for a guillotine here but Pentti defends easily.
Pentti looking to sit in guard and control but Badolato gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Pentti lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Badolato has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Badolato looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Pentti is defending well. Badolato quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Pentti has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Badolato celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
