Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Gibbs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lou Stevenson! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevenson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Stevenson instigates a clinch. Gibbs is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Gibbs has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Stevenson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Stevenson is trying to force a seperation but Gibbs has the dominant position. Stevenson tries to pull guard but Gibbs won't allow it.
Stevenson prevents a body shot from Gibbs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stevenson manages to pull guard.
Gibbs is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Gibbs postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gibbs with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Gibbs won't allow Stevenson to sweep him here. Stevenson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Gibbs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Gibbs in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Stevenson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Stevenson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Stevenson looking to control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Gibbs is looking to work some ground and pound but Stevenson has wrist control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Stevenson gets a clinch. Stevenson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gibbs walks away with a smile on his face. Stevenson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Tony Gibbs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lou Stevenson.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stevenson shoots in for a takedown but Gibbs shows good takedown defense. Stevenson closes the distance and pushes Gibbs back into the cage. Stevenson trying to land knees to the body.

Gibbs turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gibbs manages to end up in side control. You can see the frustration on Stevenson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gibbs is looking to take a break and control but Stevenson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gibbs scoring with punches from side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gibbs creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Stevenson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Stevenson tries to improve position but can't. A control attempt from Stevenson but he's now mounted! Stevenson is bucking up trying to escape but Gibbs cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Gibbs is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Stevenson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Gibbs with the ground and pound from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Stevenson tries to lock up and control but Gibbs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevenson is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Gibbs is staying active. Gibbs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Gibbs breaks from Stevenson's wrist control and lands an elbow. Stevenson wants to control but Gibbs is having none of it. Gibbs lands with some strikes. Stevenson wants to hold on but Gibbs pushes him away. Gibbs with a couple of short strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Stevenson tries to lock up and control but Gibbs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Gibbs landing punches. Gibbs working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. A nice elbow there by Gibbs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Horrible takedown attempt by Stevenson or perhaps it was just good defense by Gibbs, which made it look bad. Stevenson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Stevenson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Gibbs has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Gibbs and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Gibbs is looking for a counter combo. Stevenson tries a head kick but it misses.

It looked like Gibbs was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Stevenson dives in and grabs Gibbs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stevenson misses with a takedown attempt - Gibbs sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Gibbs rushes Stevenson and presses him up against the cage. Stevenson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Gibbs is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

A frustrated look appears on Stevenson's face as he tries to break the clinch. Stevenson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Gibbs jumps into guard, dragging Stevenson to the mat.
Gibbs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stevenson's guard. Gibbs postures up and lands a big shot to Stevenson's brow. Gibbs is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stevenson can do to turn this around? Gibbs won't allow Stevenson to sweep him here. Gibbs scoring with punches to the head and body. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gibbs throwing strikes but missing. Stevenson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Gibbs is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Stevenson. It's a sloppy attempt though and Gibbs jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stevenson can do anything to dispel that myth. Stevenson wants to get back to his feet but Gibbs is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Gibbs with a nice head shot there. Gibbs controls from within his opponent's guard. Gibbs chips away with some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gibbs stands up over Stevenson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gibbs working some strikes from top position. Gibbs stands up from Stevenson's guard - Gibbs perhaps looking for a knockout. Stevenson gets a clinch. A short right from Gibbs. Gibbs is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Gibbs has Stevenson pressed against the cage, preventing Stevenson from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Gibbs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gibbs tries to work over Stevenson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Stevenson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gibbs is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Lou Stevenson seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Gibbs is defending well against a takedown attempt. Stevenson is pressed up against the cage. Gibbs has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Stevenson down to the mat. Stevenson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Gibbs stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gibbs wants it to stay on the feet. Stevenson fails with a takedown attempt. Lou Stevenson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tony Gibbs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Stevenson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gibbs fails in his attempt to clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! Tony Gibbs showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gibbs, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
