PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hal Little (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Spence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spence has chosen Disturbed - Indestructible as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mark Spence was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hal Little!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Spence!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Little throws a sloppy head kick and Spence moves out of range easily.
Spence with the counter takedown but Little avoids it easily.

Little shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Spence blocking the ground and pound attempt from Little.
Spence regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Little.
Little stands up over Spence, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Little could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Little is working Spence over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Little knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Spence on the ground.
Spence wants to improve his position but instead Little has moved into half guard.

Little lands a couple of good shots and Spence has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Little throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Spence manages to escape to a better position under a series of strikes. Little is now in side control.
Spence wants to control but Little postures up.
Little misses with the ground and pound.
Spence is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Spence sneaks back into half guard.
Spence looks winded!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Spence gets caught napping as Little dives in and scores a takedown. Spence manages to retain guard.
Little with a flurry of punches that miss.
Little is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Little throwing strikes but missing.
Little lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Little throws a strike but Spence rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Little might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Little throws an elbow that misses. Spence uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Little's guard. Nice move by Spence!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Little is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Spence asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Little throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Little throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Spence tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Little is in Spence's guard.

Spence controls Little momentarily but Little frees himself.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA London inform us that Spence has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Little working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Spence's head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Spence wants to sweep here but Little controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spence lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Little is concentrating on defense, preventing Spence from advancing position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
