Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alvaro Boyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hendog Thornton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hendog Thornton has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Alvaro Boyd's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alvaro Boyd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hendog Thornton! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thornton darts in and clinches Boyd up against the cage. Boyd lands a takedown into guard.
Boyd keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Thornton's head. Boyd has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Thornton thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Thornton trying to keep a closed guard but Boyd is proving a slippery customer.
Boyd tries to stand but Thornton is controlling from the bottom. Thornton is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thornton has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Boyd has passed into side control.
Thornton wants to control but Boyd postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thornton tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Boyd wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Boyd creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Boyd is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Thornton knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Boyd working the strikes but Thornton uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Boyd tries to stand and escape but Thornton is controlling the position. Boyd missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Boyd wants to stand up but Thornton manages to regain full guard. Thornton is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Boyd throws an elbow that misses. Thornton uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Boyd's guard. Nice move by Thornton! Boyd wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Thornton wants to get up but he can't break Boyd's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thornton looking to sit in guard and control but Boyd gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thornton trying to keep a closed guard but Boyd is proving a slippery customer.
Thornton is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Boyd postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Thornton is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Boyd, into his guard. Thornton trying to control the position from guard on top but Boyd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Thornton stays in close to Boyd's body and controls the position. Boyd will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Boyd wants to stand but Thornton is controlling the position. Boyd really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Thornton gets in close and instigates a clinch. Boyd tries for a takedown but Thornton manages to get underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Alvaro Boyd will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Boyd wants to control from the top but Thornton keeps moving. Boyd is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Thornton is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Thornton has escaped and now he's on top! Thornton looking to pass the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boyd pulls Thornton in close to his closed guard and prevents Thornton from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thornton tries to free his leg and advance position but Boyd is retaining full guard. Boyd keeping moving, preventing Thornton from controlling successfully. Thornton must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Boyd wants to stand but Thornton is controlling the position. Thornton not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Boyd wants to stand but Thornton is controlling the position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Thornton takes the fight into the clinch. Boyd is trying to pull guard but Thornton has him pressed against the cage. Boyd tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Thornton gets a trip takedown into half guard. Thornton looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Boyd is trying to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thornton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Thornton trying to control the action but Boyd is working from the bottom. Thornton trying to mount his opponent but Boyd defends it. Boyd is staying active underneath Thornton, who seems content to just control the action from this position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Hendog Thornton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thornton throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Boyd tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Thornton is in Boyd's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thornton trying to control the position from guard on top but Boyd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Thornton postures up in Boyd's guard and throws a big left but Boyd blocks it. Boyd keeping moving, preventing Thornton from controlling successfully. Boyd seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Thornton looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hendog Thornton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Thornton pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Boyd tumbling to the mat - Thornton dives into Boyd's guard. Boyd wants to stand but Thornton is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thornton throws a big right hand that misses. Boyd has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Thornton is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Thornton crunches a lovely knee into Boyd's ribcage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thornton has picked Boyd up - he's going for a ride! Thornton dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Thornton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Boyd keeps working. Thornton tries to pass to full mount but Boyd defends it. Boyd is trying to stand.
Thornton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Boyd does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thornton with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Thornton drives through and clinches with Boyd against the cage.
Thornton gets a trip takedown into half guard. Thornton wants to get back to his feet.
Thornton stalling away here and it's allowed Boyd to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Thornton has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Boyd wants to stand up but Thornton is controlling him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thornton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Thornton closes the distance and clinches. Boyd tries for a takedown. No joy.
Boyd misses with a punch to the body.
Thornton pulls guard. Boyd throwing strikes from guard but Thornton blocks nicely. Thornton throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Thornton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boyd is one step ahead there. Boyd throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Boyd drops back looking for a leg! Thornton is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Thornton manages to kick Boyd off! Boyd jumps back into Thornton's guard. Boyd is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
And that's the end of the fight! Hendog Thornton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Thornton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
