Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cho Ming (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Olivier Aubin Mercier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aubin Mercier has chosen Classified - Oh Canada as his entrance music. Olivier Aubin Mercier has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cho Ming!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Olivier Aubin Mercier!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ming fails with the takedown.
Ming fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ming tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Aubin Mercier defends well and Ming ends up having to push Aubin Mercier into the ropes where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ming has been working on his balance at Cozad MMA Tokyo, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Aubin Mercier.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cho Ming. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Aubin Mercier changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ming tries to avoid it but Aubin Mercier manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ming to the ground. Ming escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ming shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aubin Mercier as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ming throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Aubin Mercier was covering up waiting for the punch and Ming finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Aubin Mercier is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ming is fighting to break Aubin Mercier's control of his arms but Aubin Mercier is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Aubin Mercier is looking to stand up but Ming isn't so interested in that idea.

Aubin Mercier stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Aubin Mercier wants it to stay on the feet.
Ming looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Aubin Mercier is fending him off so far but Ming persists. Nope, Aubin Mercier circles away and we're back to standing.
Ming changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aubin Mercier tries to avoid it but Ming manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aubin Mercier to the ground. Aubin Mercier escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ming closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ming lands in his opponent's guard.
Ming postures up in Aubin Mercier's guard and throws a big left but Aubin Mercier blocks it.
Aubin Mercier wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Aubin Mercier has control of Ming's left arm, preventing Ming from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cho Ming will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Aubin Mercier will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ming dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Aubin Mercier. That did some damage!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Aubin Mercier closes the distance and clinches up with Ming, looking for a takedown. Aubin Mercier pushes Ming against the ropes but Ming circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Aubin Mercier shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ming but Ming pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ming appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ming has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Aubin Mercier uses from the top position.

Cho Ming showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Ming has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
