And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rodrigo Rojas!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rojas tries to clinch but Benvenuti moves out of range.
Rojas wants to clinch up but Benvenuti keeps it at a distance.
Benvenuti circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rojas throws the kick towards the body but Benvenuti avoids it.
Rojas tries to clinch but Benvenuti moves out of range.
Rojas closes the distance looking to clinch
and Benvenuti counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Benvenuti lands a body shot.
Benvenuti throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Benvenuti fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rojas looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benvenuti scores with a nice head shot.
Rojas on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Rojas shoots in but no luck this time.
A little feinted left hand from Benvenuti on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Benvenuti lands with a hook. Rojas tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Benvenuti scores with a jab to the body.

Rojas misses with a takedown
and Benvenuti cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Rodrigo Rojas has been cut.
Rodrigo Rojas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rojas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Benvenuti swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Rojas moves into range and clinches up with Benvenuti.
Benvenuti tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Rojas has Benvenuti pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Benvenuti manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Massimo Benvenuti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodrigo Rojas.
Benvenuti lands a hook that snaps the head of Rojas backwards.

and Benvenuti counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Benvenuti ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Benvenuti lands a jab to Rojas's midsection.
Rojas looks winded!
A low kick from Rojas is predictable there
and Benvenuti connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


Rojas is rocked!
Benvenuti fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Rojas is still on wobbly legs! Can Benvenuti finish him?
Massimo Benvenuti is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A head kick by Benvenuti - that's a beauty! Rojas is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Benvenuti can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

After winning the bout, Massimo Benvenuti thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
