Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
27 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Garik Harlamov! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jonathan Hall! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A decent looking cross lands there for Hall. Harlamov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Harlamov postures up in Hall's guard and throws a big left but Hall blocks it. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hall is on top in guard.

Hall looking for a sweep. Not yet Hall, not yet. We've been hearing that Harlamov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Harlamov content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Harlamov is looking to work some ground and pound but Hall has wrist control. Harlamov with a nice head shot there. Hall has escaped and now he's on top! Hall controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Harlamov keeping moving, preventing Hall from controlling successfully. Hall is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hall postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Harlamov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hall controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Hall stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hall wants it to stay on the feet. Harlamov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. A close third round but Jonathan Hall just about did enough to take it. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

He's got his arms around Hall's waist but Hall gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Harlamov off to one side. That's two minutes gone in the round. Hall lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Harlamov with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hall to score with a decent uppercut. Hall scores with a kick to the midsection. Hall scores with a body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hall throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Harlamov sees it coming and avoids it easily. Harlamov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hall. Harlamov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hall.

Hall wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Harlamov gets slowly back to his feet. Hall throws a jab when Harlamov was well out of range. Harlamov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hall but Hall pushes him off and we're back to square one. And Hall tries to counter it with a takedown but Harlamov pushes his down on his head and steps out. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Harlamov has a takedown stuffed. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Hall defending well as Harlamov loads up on a big left hand.
And that's the end of the fight! Jonathan Hall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hall has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
