Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Cardy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Landreth!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Richard Clark and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Landreth misses with a takedown attempt - Cardy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Landreth fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Cardy throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Landreth's head.

Cardy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Landreth's guard.
Cardy wants to pass the guard but Landreth is keeping the position.
Cardy wants to stand but Landreth is controlling his posture from full guard.
Landreth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cardy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Landreth holds on and takes a little breather.
Cardy wants to pass the guard but Landreth is keeping the position.

Cardy is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Landreth is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Landreth has escaped and now he's on top!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cardy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Landreth is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Landreth is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Landreth is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Cardy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Landreth can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Cardy is breathing heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Landreth takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

and Cardy counters with a takedown into side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Cardy tries to advance position but instead Landreth slips a leg back in to half guard.

Cardy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Landreth is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cardy is controlling him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Cardy throws a head kick that misses.

That's time! Cardy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Cardy lands with a kick to the temple. Landreth shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

and Cardy holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Landreth drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cardy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Cardy lands an elbow inside that Landreth shrugs off.
Cardy is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Landreth tries to work over Cardy's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Cardy has hold of one of Landreth's legs. Landreth is fighting the takedown attempt but Cardy gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Landreth bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cardy's guard.
Cardy is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Cardy is looking for a triangle but Landreth pushes his legs off easily.
Landreth throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cardy works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Landreth working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Landreth uses his free foot to push down on Cardy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cardy.
Cardy is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Landreth fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Landreth is standing up, even though he is in mount.

and Cardy counters by moving into the clinch.
Dan Cardy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Landreth.
Cardy just leaning against Landreth, taking a breather.
Landreth is looking to break free of the clinch but Cardy has double underhooks.
Landreth wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Landreth drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cardy pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Cardy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Landreth's guard.
Cardy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Landreth has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Cardy off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Cardy counters with a body kick that stops Landreth in his tracks momentarily.

so Cardy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Landreth wants to sweep but no luck.
Cardy wants to control from the top but Landreth keeps moving.
Landreth throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Cardy has gone for a leg lock! Landreth slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cardy's guard.
Cardy wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Landreth is now in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Landreth wants to stand up but Cardy is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Cardy dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Cardy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A solid leg kick lands there for Landreth.
Mike Landreth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Landreth tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Cardy counters with a single leg into guard. Landreth didn't expect that.
Cardy wants to pass the guard but Landreth is keeping the position.
Landreth has Cardy pulled in close to control his posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Landreth is on top in guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cardy scores with a crisp jab that stopped Landreth in his tracks.
Cardy lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Cardy lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Cardy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cardy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Cardy wants to get back to his feet but Landreth is holding on tight.

Landreth bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Landreth wants to control from the top but Cardy keeps moving.

Cardy manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
