PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between JoJo Kush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne Wade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wade has chosen Dance Gavin Dance - Strawberry Swisher pt. III as his entrance music. JoJo Kush has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, JoJo Kush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wayne Wade!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wade tries to sprawl but Kush drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Kush really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kush is looking to advance position but Wade won't allow it.
Kush takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Kush is trying to control the action in half guard but Wade is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wade can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kush not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kush not landing any meaningful shots this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kush lands strikes from half guard.
Wade wants to get back to his feet.
Kush trying to pass the guard but Wade defending well.
Kush will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kush is taking a breather. Wade says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kush definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Kush dives in and scores a takedown into Wade's guard.

Kush is looking to work some ground and pound but Wade has wrist control.
Wade is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kush dives into side control.
Kush lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Kush looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Wade is avoiding damage well.
Kush working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Kush lands a few punches from side control.
Kush trying to control the position but Wade is working away.

Wade wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Kush has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kush cracks Wade with a big right hand but Wade just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Kush grinds an elbow into Wade's temple.
Kush connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Wade some visible discomfort.
Kush creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

We've been informed that Wade has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Wade taking a bit of punishment here - Kush scoring with strikes.
Kush lands a few punches from side control.
Wade is trying to buck Kush off.
Kush is putting a hurting on Wade here, landing some big shots from side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kush creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

JoJo Kush dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wade fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kush attempts a counter takedown but Wade avoids it well and moves away.
Kush tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wade defends well and Kush ends up having to push Wade into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Kush tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wade sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kush somewhat.

Wade instigates a clinch.
Wade goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Wade is looking to control Kush's arms but Kush gets an underhook and turns him. Now Wade has his back to the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Wade creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Kush fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JoJo Kush. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Wade lands with a short shot to the head.
Kush jumps guard but Wade turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Kush fails to pull guard.
Kush is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Wade to keep the fight standing.
Wade slowing the pace effectively.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Wade creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wade pushes Kush against the cage. Wade is working some dirty boxing. Wade pushes off with a quick right hook! Kush goes down! Kush tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Wade moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wayne Wade!
Wayne Wade decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
