Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Crown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Simpson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Crown! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crown is looking to clinch. Ben Simpson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Crown scores with a jab. Simpson acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Simpson throws an off balance right hand
and Crown counters with a head kick. Simpson throws a good cross that connects.
Crown throws a head kick that misses. Crown walks into a left hand. Crown lands a nice looking kick to the body. Simpson takes a step back to recover. Crown misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Crown takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Simpson thows a body kick. Crown tries to catch it but that hurt him. Simpson jabbing away but nothing is landing. Simpson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. This has been an exciting period of action! Crown uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Simpson.

That's one minute gone in the round. Simpson throws a hook to the side of Crown's head but Crown sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Crown tries to counter with a clinch but Simpson shakes him off and moves away. Simpson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Simpson lands an overhand right. Simpson cracks Crown with a right hand to the side of the head. Simpson moves into range and connects with a jab. A head kick by Crown misses and Simpson counters with a right hand to the body. Nice sprawl there from Simpson as Crown shoots in. Crown takes one on the button. Crown pushes Simpson away with a front kick. Simpson scores with a nice strike. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Simpson is looking to clinch. Simpson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Simpson wants to clinch but Crown slips to the side and Crown counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Crown gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Simpson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A nice leg kick lands there from Crown.

Simpson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Crown's head backwards. Simpson throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Crown throws a sloppy head kick and Simpson moves out of range easily. Crown on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Simpson misses with an uppercut. Crown saw that one coming. Crown misses with a leg kick. Simpson is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Crown wants to clinch. Simpson thows a left - swing and a miss! Simpson looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Crown has a takedown stuffed. Ben Simpson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Crown. Crown wants to clinch up but Simpson keeps it at a distance. Crown takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Simpson takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Crown scores with a push kick. Donk. Simpson catches Crown right on the button with a cross. Simpson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Simpson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Crown manages to avoid it. Simpson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Simpson throws a sloppy head kick and Crown counters with a right hand to the body. Crown stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Crown wants it to stay on the feet. Crown is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Crown bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Crown appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Simpson scores with a leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Simpson throws the left hand but Crown avoids the punch easily. Crown throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Simpson blocks it with crossed arms. Crown has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Simpson seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Crown can turn it around. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crown tries to land a knee to the head but Simpson blocks with his arms.
Simpson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Crown is trying to keep an underhook but Simpson manages to get the takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Crown is looking to improve his position.

Simpson wants to take a breather but Crown is having none of it. Crown tries to roll over but Simpson keeps him under control. Simpson scoring with strikes to the body and head. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Simpson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Simpson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Crown does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Crown gets back to full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Simpson stopping the sweep attempt from Crown. Simpson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Crown is keeping the position for now.

Crown avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Simpson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Crown has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Simpson has managed to get both his arms back between Crown's legs - danger averted. Simpson wants to control from the top but Crown keeps moving. Simpson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Crown working a defensive guard here.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Good leg kick by Crown there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

That was a bit too telegraphed.

Horrible takedown attempt by Crown or perhaps it was just good defense by Simpson, which made it look bad. Simpson swats away the attempt to clinch by Crown. Simpson scores with a jab. Crown acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Crown fails in his attempt to clinch. Simpson lands with a shot to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Simpson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Crown's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Simpson throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ben Simpson. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Simpson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
