PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hoolio Dawg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, The Rock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hoolio Dawg!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rock blocks a jab.
Dawg throws a front kick aimed at Rock's knee but Rock avoids it well.
Rock blocks a head kick by Dawg.
Rock cracks Dawg with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.


It looks like Hoolio Dawg has been cut.

Dawg closes the distance and clinches.
Dawg stops a takedown attempt from Rock.

Dawg pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Dawg thows a left - swing and a miss!
Dawg takes a swing at Rock's ribcage but misses.
Rock looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dawg is fending him off so far but Rock persists. Nope, Dawg circles away and we're back to standing.
Rock backing away here, and Dawg unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Dawg misses with a head kick.

Rock closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dawg quickly recovers to half guard.

Rock looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rock is trying to control the action in half guard but Dawg is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rock performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Dawg wants to get back to his feet.
Rock trying to control the action but Dawg is working from the bottom.

Rock is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Dawg sees it coming and defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rock seems to be working for a kimura but Dawg defends the submission attempt.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rock is keen to just control but Dawg is a slippery customer.
Dawg is trying to stand back up but Rock is controlling him
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rock perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Rock cracks Dawg with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Rock has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Dawg to stand back up!
Rock goes for a double leg but Dawg avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Dawg continues to drive forward.
Dawg is looking for the big counter here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for The Rock. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dawg rushes Rock and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Dawg breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dawg digs a good body shot into Rock's ribs.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dawg swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
It looked like Rock was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Rock has been working on his balance at HARD WORK PAYS OFF! 11 elites Only 600, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Dawg.
Rock Throws a clean left jab. Rock Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Dawg's chin! Dawg crumbles to the ground and Rock follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Rock!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). The Rock!
