Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kaname Tosen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mark Kilabot!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kilabot with a lazy takedown attempt
and Tosen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kilabot takes one on the chin but seems OK.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tosen. That's going to slow Kilabot down.
Kilabot shoots in for a takedown but Tosen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tosen lands with a kick to the temple. Kilabot shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Tosen dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kilabot throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tosen's waist but Tosen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kilabot off to one side.
Tosen looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Kaname Tosen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Kilabot.
Tosen connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Kaname Tosen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tosen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kilabot looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kilabot shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tosen as he avoids it easily.
Kilabot closes the distance looking to clinch
and Tosen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kilabot misses with a combination
and Tosen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tosen.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Tosen lands a right hand.
Tosen gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Tosen tries to pass to full mount but Kilabot defends it.
Kilabot looking for submissions off his back.
Kilabot looking for subs from the bottom but Tosen mounts him!
Tosen controlling the position easily from mount.
Kilabot tries to lock up and control but Tosen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Tosen cracks Kilabot with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kilabot can't escape the position.
Tosen controlling his opponent.
Tosen is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Tosen extends the arm and Kilabot is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kaname Tosen!
An out of breath Kaname Tosen thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
