Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Thomas Smythe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Krammer Hussein!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smythe gets the takedown into side control.
Smythe is looking to take a break and control but Hussein is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hussein tries to buck Smythe off but Smythe is having none of it.
Hussein should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Smythe has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hussein can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A combination from Smythe does no damage.

Hussein looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Smythe is breathing heavily.
Hussein is keen to just control but Smythe is a slippery customer.

Hussein is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smythe is looking for a sweep. Hussein is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hussein not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hussein seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Smythe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Hussein tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Hussein clinches up with Smythe and pushes him back against the cage.

Smythe stands and steps away. Hussein gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Smythe tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Hussein counters with a single leg into guard. Smythe didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hussein drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smythe manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hussein has Smythe in his guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hussein manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smythe manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Smythe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Smythe throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hussein escapes and throws Smythe's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hussein thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smythe is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hussein. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Hussein wants to take a breather but Smythe is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hussein wants to stand but Smythe has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Smythe looks like he's trying to stand up.
Smythe is staying active underneath Hussein, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Smythe gets a takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smythe connects with a nice short shot to Hussein's temple.
Hussein pushes Smythe off looking to stand but Smythe dives back in and keeps control.
Hussein tries to roll over but Smythe keeps him under control.

Smythe is working for a kimura but Hussein is defending it quite comfortably.
Smythe wants to pass the guard but Hussein is defending well.

Hussein kicks Smythe off and gets back to his feet.

Hussein has managed to clinch.
Hussein has Smythe pressed against the cage.

Smythe gets control of Hussein's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smythe will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Smythe has his hands on Hussein's head, controlling the position.

Hussein decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Smythe, up you get!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close second round but I would say that Thomas Smythe will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Smythe doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Hussein counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smythe's guard now.

Smythe wants to control from the top but Hussein keeps moving.

Krammer Hussein has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hussein is trying to control the position but Smythe postures up.
Hussein utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hussein has his foot on Smythe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smythe works his way back into a safe position though.
Smythe wanted to stand there but Hussein had control of the position.
Hussein is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Smythe is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Smythe is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hussein is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hussein has escaped and now he's on top!

Hussein is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Smythe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hussein to the mat! Hussein manages to get full guard.

Smythe has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Hussein to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Smythe is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Hussein pulls down on the head and he's put Smythe to sleep! This one is all over!
