Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jesus Montalban!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis fails to land the takedown.
Davis looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Montalban lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Davis at a distance.
Montalban throws a good cross that connects.
Montalban cracks Davis with a good jab.
Davis tries to move into range but Montalban moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Montalban dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davis tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Montalban counters with a left to the body.
Montalban feints a jab promting Davis to slip. Montalban then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Davis slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Montalban circles away from the clinch attempt.
Davis throws a head kick but Montalban moves out of range.
Montalban swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Davis is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Montalban defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Davis.
Montalban attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Montalban jabs Davis right on the nose. Davis blinks but takes it well.
Montalban connects with a right hand. Davis shakes it off.
Davis takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Davis takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Davis needs to keep his hands up - Montalban had a free shot at his head there.
Montalban's jab looks to have found its range, popping Davis under the eye.
Davis misses with a takedown
and Davis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Montalban lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Montalban lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Montalban digs a good body shot into Davis's ribs.

Davis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Montalban lands a right hook to the body.
Montalban bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Davis's head.
Montalban cracks Davis with an open hand slap.
Davis tries for a takedown but Montalban circles away easily
and Montalban counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Davis takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Montalban is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Davis had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Davis fails with the takedown
and Montalban counters with a stiff right hand.


Davis is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Montalban's corner calls for a 1-2. Montalban obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Oh Davis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Montalban cracks Davis with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Davis tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Montalban pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Davis is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jesus Montalban!
