Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matheus Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georgiy Balabanko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez with a poor takedown
and Balabanko counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rodriguez controls Balabanko momentarily but Balabanko frees himself.
Balabanko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Balabanko content to stall in guard here.
We've been hearing good reports from Rodriguez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Rodriguez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Balabanko seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Rodriguez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rodriguez is on top in guard.

Rodriguez is really struggling to control Balabanko but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Balabanko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodriguez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Balabanko looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Rodriguez has picked Balabanko up and slammed him! Balabanko can't keep hold of the triangle and Rodriguez manages to pass to side control!
Rodriguez tries to score with some ground and pound. Balabanko controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Rodriguez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Balabanko can do anything to dispel that myth.

Balabanko regains half guard.
Rodriguez wants to take a breather but Balabanko is having none of it.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rodriguez moves to clinch but Balabanko breaks away
and Balabanko counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Rodriguez tries to get to full guard but Balabanko has control of the leg.
Rodriguez is staying active underneath Balabanko, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Balabanko thows a huge punch but Rodriguez dodges it nicely.

Balabanko is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We've been informed that Balabanko has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Rodriguez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Balabanko.

Rodriguez pushes Balabanko off looking to stand but Balabanko dives back in and keeps control.
Balabanko not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Georgiy Balabanko dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Rodriguez lands with a kick to the temple. Balabanko shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Georgiy Balabanko has been cut.
Rodriguez misses with a takedown
and Balabanko counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Balabanko.
Rodriguez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Balabanko is one step ahead there.
Balabanko is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Rodriguez has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Balabanko is looking to defend but Rodriguez has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Balabanko! Rodriguez pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Balabanko taps out and this one is all over!
