Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Munch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 40 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Krammer Hussein! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hussein closes the distance and clinches up with Munch, looking for a takedown. Hussein pushes Munch against the cage but Munch circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. It looked like Munch wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Hussein fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Munch lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hussein at a distance.
A punch lands to the side of Hussein 's head but he takes it in his stride. Munch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hussein is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Hussein clinches. Hussein is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Munch pulls him back up using the underhooks. John Munch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Krammer Hussein. Hussein ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hussein no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Hussein is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Munch is looking to stand up but Hussein won't let him. Hussein throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Munch escapes and throws Hussein's legs to the side, diving into side control! Hussein is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Munch has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hussein takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Munch scores with a couple of short elbows. Hussein tries to buck Munch off but Munch is having none of it. Munch in side control, just content to control the action for now. Munch in side control, throwing shots but Hussein defends. Munch decides to take the fight back to the feet. Nice shot lands for Munch. Munch dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Hussein has had enough and taps out.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). John Munch! An out of breath John Munch thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
