Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mark Trokley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mark Kerr! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Trokley closes the distance and clinches. Trokley is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kerr to keep the fight standing. Trokley has had enough of the clinch but Kerr keeps him there for the moment. Kerr manages to break the clinch.
Kerr tries to keep at a distance but Trokley has taken the fight into the clinch. Trokley using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Kerr tries to score a body lock takedown but Trokley shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Kerr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Excellent takedown into side control there by Kerr. Kerr advances to full mount. Kerr lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Trokley hang on? The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kerr lands with some strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kerr trying to control but Trokley is having none of it. Kerr punishing his opponent with strikes. Trokley slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Trokley is trying to maintain the position but Kerr is very close to passing his half guard. Kerr thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kerr with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Kerr trying to advance position but Trokley counters by regaining guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kerr lands a couple of elbows. Kerr is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Trokley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kerr on the ground. Kerr wants to control from the top but Trokley keeps moving. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kerr's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Kerr lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Trokley is on top in guard.
Kerr wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kerr wants to stand and escape but Trokley is having none of it. Kerr seems keen to control Trokley's posture. Trokley wants to control from the top but Kerr keeps moving. Trokley not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Nice sprawl there from Kerr as Trokley shoots in. Kerr tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Trokley was well out of range. Poor timing from Kerr. Nice takedown defense from Kerr. No joy for Trokley on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Trokley. That's going to take a lot out of him. A momentary lapse in concentration from Trokley enables Kerr to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Trokley manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Kerr missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Trokley wants to hit a switch here but Kerr passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Trokley there! Trokley is breathing heavily. Kerr landing strikes from the mount. Trokley is bucking up trying to escape but Kerr cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Trokley is in a horrible position here. Kerr smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Trokley is rocked!
It looks like Mark Trokley has been cut. Kerr loads up with a big shot that hurts Trokley! He's pulled Kerr in close but Kerr has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Trokley survive? More strikes from Kerr and Trokley is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mark Kerr!
