Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 34 - 1, fighting out of London, Carlos Strikes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 2, fighting out of New York, Floyd Pepper! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pepper lands a jab-cross combination.
It looks like Carlos Strikes has been cut. Pepper scores with a head kick.
Pepper tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Pepper delivers a nice body kick. Pepper closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Strikes did well to prevent Pepper getting side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Strikes gets full guard. Pepper throwing strikes but missing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pepper throwing strikes from guard but Strikes blocks nicely. Strikes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pepper is aware though and is defending well. Strikes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Strikes definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Strikes looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Strikes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strikes controlling Pepper's posture. Strikes looking to control.
Strikes has Pepper pulled in close to control his posture. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pepper accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Pepper swings widly with a right hand
and Strikes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Pepper fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Strikes checks it well. Strikes looks for a takedown but Pepper sprawls well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pepper attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Pepper scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Strikes takes a body punch but keeps moving. Floyd Pepper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pepper tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Pepper misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Strikes tried to score with a low kick but Pepper checks it. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Pepper lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Strikes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Strikes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Strikes slips a jab and a cross from Pepper.
Strikes is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Pepper. Pepper lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Pepper thumps Strikes with a low kick. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pepper changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Strikes wants to clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Strikes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Strikes wants it to stay on the feet. Strikes moves into the clinch. Strikes lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Pepper is looking to break free of the clinch but Strikes has double underhooks. Pepper is trying to push Strikes away but Strikes has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. A frustrated look appears on Pepper's face as he tries to break the clinch. Strikes tries to stall but Pepper uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Strikes lands a left hand that snaps the head of Pepper backwards. Strikes lands a good knee to the midsection. Pepper won't want to take too many of those. Pepper crunches a lovely knee into Strikes's ribcage. Strikes breaks the clinch.
Pepper tries to land a front kick but Strikes steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Pepper misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Strikes counters with a left and a right that stings Pepper. Strikes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pepper fails to land with a series of punches.
Strikes is looking for a counter combo. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Left hook, right uppercut from Pepper. Strikes getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Strikes misses with the combination.
Strikes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Pepper feints a counter leg kick. Pepper throws a head kick that misses. Pepper moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Pepper moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Carlos Strikes's cut is getting worse. Strikes swings for the body but Pepper moves out of range.
Strikes closes the distance but Pepper moves to the side and Pepper counters with a one-two to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Floyd Pepper dominated that round. The cut man is working on Carlos Strikes's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Strikes checks a leg kick. Strikes wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Strikes takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. A head kick misses from Pepper. Strikes thinks about countering with a head kick. Strikes darts in trying to clinch and Strikes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Pepper misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pepper throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Pepper rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Strikes moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Strikes thuds his shin into the meat of Pepper's side. Strikes is looking to counter punch. A low kick from Strikes misses and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Pepper throws a right and a left that Strikes avoids nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Strikes looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Strikes shoots in looking for a takedown. Pepper tries to sprawl out of it but Strikes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pepper manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Pepper unleashes a big counter combination but Strikes bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Pepper throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Strikes counter with a right hand. Pepper has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Pepper misses with a head kick.
Pepper fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Strikes is out of range. Pepper misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Strikes throws a head kick that misses. Pepper tries a head kick but it misses.
Pepper misses with a takedown and Strikes moves into the clinch. Pepper is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pepper escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pepper throws a series of strikes that have Strikes backpedaling.
Pepper displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Strikes. Pepper replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Strikes blocks it well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Strikes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pepper defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Strikes. Pepper fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Strikes throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Pepper is rocked! Strikes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Pepper is still on wobbly legs! Can Strikes finish him? Strikes breaks the clinch.
Strikes shoots in for a takedown. SLAM! Brutal! Pepper is out cold and this one is all over!
