Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ellis Mccullough (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). AJ Masters looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ellis Mccullough!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, AJ Masters!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Darius Henderson and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Masters is looking to score with low kicks.

Masters moves into the clinch.
Mccullough wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Masters has him pressed against the cage.

Mccullough successfully pulls guard.
Masters is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mccullough is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Masters stopping the sweep attempt from Mccullough.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Masters throws a strike but Mccullough rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mccullough with a nice head shot there.

Mccullough lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Mccullough throws an elbow that misses. Masters uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mccullough's guard. Nice move by Masters!


Masters got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mccullough has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Masters has managed to get both his arms back between Mccullough's legs - danger averted.
Masters trying to control the position from guard on top but Mccullough is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mccullough is looking for a triangle but Masters pushes his legs off easily.

Mccullough looking for a guillotine here but Masters defends easily.
Mccullough is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Masters is controlling him.
Mccullough keeping full guard, as Masters tries to pass.
Masters looks winded!

Mccullough throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Masters throws a big right hand that misses.

Mccullough escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Masters gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mccullough had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Masters defends it easily.
Masters wants to control from the top but Mccullough keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mccullough throws a series of punches but Masters moves out of range.
Masters steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Mccullough.

Masters clinches up with Mccullough and pushes him back against the cage.
Mccullough wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mccullough is looking to break free of the clinch but Masters has double underhooks.
Masters lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Ellis Mccullough has been cut.
Mccullough wants to break free but Masters has control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mccullough gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Mccullough sitting and controlling from the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mccullough tries to keep at a distance but Masters has taken the fight into the clinch.
Masters connects with a knee to the head.

Masters decides to pull guard.
Mccullough landing some decent shots from guard.
Mccullough throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mccullough throwing strikes from guard but Masters blocks nicely.

Masters is working an open guard so Mccullough takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Masters is breathing heavily.

Masters darts in and clinches Mccullough up against the cage.
Mccullough blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Mccullough's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mccullough.

Masters scores with a takedown into Mccullough's guard.
Mccullough has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Masters won't allow Mccullough to sweep him here.

Mccullough throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Mccullough is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Masters is aware though and is defending well.

Mccullough looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Masters passes into side control.
Mccullough stops Masters from passing to mount.
Masters is trying to ground and pound but Mccullough uses the momentary lack of control by Masters to regain half guard.

Mccullough moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mccullough keeping moving, preventing Masters from controlling successfully.
Masters stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mccullough swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Masters has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mccullough is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mccullough shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Masters is trying to defend but Mccullough finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Mccullough content to control rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ Masters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Mccullough shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Masters as he avoids it easily.
Masters looks to land a body kick but Mccullough moved away.
As Masters looks to move away, Mccullough throws a big counter combo bu Masters just gets out of the way.

Masters moves into range and clinches up with Mccullough.
Masters tries to land knees in the clinch but Mccullough avoids the damage to the body.
Masters throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mccullough blocks it with crossed arms.
Mccullough goes for a takedown attempt but Masters pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mccullough misses with a takedown attempt - Masters sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ellis Mccullough. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Masters closes the distance and pushes Mccullough back into the cage.

Mccullough breaks from the clinch.
Masters takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mccullough gets tackled into the cage by Masters. Masters maintains the clinch.

Mccullough is looking to take this one to the mat.

Masters prevents the takedown attempt.
Mccullough keeps control of Masters as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Mccullough wants to get back to striking at distance but Masters won't allow it.
Mccullough is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Mccullough wants a takedown but no success here.
Masters throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mccullough blocks it with crossed arms.
AJ Masters seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Masters scores with a hook to the body.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mccullough working hard to break the clinch.

Masters pulls guard.
Mccullough stopping the sweep attempt from Masters.
Mccullough trying to stand up but can't free himself from Masters's guard.
Mccullough lands a couple of elbows.

Mccullough throws a big elbow that misses.
Mccullough wants to stand but Masters is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mccullough will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Masters wants to stand and escape but Mccullough is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Masters defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mccullough.

Masters moves into the clinch.

Mccullough ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mccullough no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Mccullough wants to sweep here but Masters controlling him for the moment.
Masters wants to control from the top but Mccullough keeps moving.
Mccullough striking from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Masters stands and steps away. Mccullough gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mccullough shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Masters pinned against the cage. Masters gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

And that's the end of the fight!
AJ Masters comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Masters has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
