PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mack Colon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jithin Kundoor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mack Colon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jithin Kundoor!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kundoor shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Colon napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kundoor looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Kundoor tries to advance to mount but Colon denies him.
Colon holds on to Kundoor's head and controls the position momentarily.
Colon tries to bench press Kundoor off him but Kundoor keeps the position.
Colon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
I wouldn't like to be where Colon is right now.
Colon gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Colon desperately trying to maintain half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Colon moves into full guard.
Colon wants to sweep here but Kundoor controlling him for the moment.

Colon pulls Kundoor in close to prevent any damage.
Kundoor must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kundoor wants to stand but Colon is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Colon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kundoor manages to get himself to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Colon controls from within his opponent's guard.
Colon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Colon lands a couple of digs.
Colon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kundoor's head.
Colon controlling from the top position.
Colon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kundoor manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Colon on his heels. He'll look to pass Colon's guard now, I'm sure.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Colon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kundoor's guard.

Colon throwing strikes from guard but Kundoor blocks nicely.
Colon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kundoor is trying to control the position but Colon postures up.
Colon keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kundoor's head.
Colon really is a fat lump.
Colon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jithin Kundoor will probably get the nod.
That's time! Colon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Colon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kundoor to the mat! Kundoor manages to get full guard.

Colon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Colon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kundoor can do to turn this around?
Kundoor is breathing heavily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Colon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kundoor looking to hit a scissor sweep but Colon is one step ahead there.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Colon throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kundoor's coach down at Tokyo Totally Gym + Sauna was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kundoor's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Colon looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Colon connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Colon thumps Kundoor with a low kick.
Colon throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kundoor's head.
Colon plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Colon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kundoor circles away quickly and effectively.
Colon cracks Kundoor with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Colon is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Colon throws a nice inside leg kick.
Jithin Kundoor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Colon ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Colon fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kundoor.

Colon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Colon lands in his opponent's guard.
Mack Colon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Colon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kundoor looking for a sweep. Not yet Kundoor, not yet.
Colon landing some decent shots from guard.
Colon distracts Kundoor with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Colon works over Kundoor with some ground and pound from guard.
Colon is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Colon cracks Kundoor with a solid left hand.
Colon stands up over Kundoor, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kundoor shoots in and bounces Colon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Colon is pulling down on Kundoor's head to control his posture.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mack Colon dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Kundoor shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Colon controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Kundoor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Colon gets back to full guard.

Colon throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Colon has his hands on Kundoor's head, controlling the position.

Colon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Colon seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Colon continues to stall.
Colon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

More hug and hope from Colon.
Colon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kundoor is looking to stand up but Colon won't let him.
Colon has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Colon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Colon throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kundoor on the side of the head.
Colon scoring well with a low kick there.
Colon looks to land a combination but Kundoor avoids it well.
Kundoor's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Colon connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kundoor scrambles back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Colon misses with a wild body shot.
Kundoor dodges the punch combination from Colon.
Mack Colon is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Colon scores with a head kick. Kundoor tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Colon looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Colon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
An inside leg kick lands from Colon.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mack Colon showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Colon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
