Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Jay Franlkin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Kay Ector! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ector lands a jab to Franlkin's midsection. Ector looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Franlkin keeps the fight on the outside. A jab from Ector misses. Franlkin wants to clinch. A nice leg kick lands there from Ector. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Franlkin, as that shot connected.
Ector keeps the fight on the outside. Ector staying out of range there. Ector misses with a body shot.
Ector displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Franlkin throws out the jab. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ector! But no joy. Franlkin wants to clinch up but Ector keeps it at a distance. Ector dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Ector looks for the body kick but Franlkin saw that one coming. We've been told by Franlkin's head coaches at Disciples Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Ector lands with a nice body kick. This has been an exciting period of action! A cross from Franlkin lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Franlkin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ector throws out the jab. Franlkin takes a body punch but keeps moving. Franlkin's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ector under the eye. Ector scores with a nice right hand.
Ector misses with a low kick. Ector misses with a straight left. Good standup being displayed there by Franlkin as he connects with a hook. Franlkin pushes Ector up against the cage in a clinch. Franlkin is trying to break the clinch but Ector has him pressed against the cage. Franlkin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Franlkin working some nice short punches in the clinch. Franlkin tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Ector scores with a shoulder strike. Ector leaning his opponent against the cage. A short uppercut from Ector. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ector breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Franlkin takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Franlkin scores with the left hand. Ector knows he should have avoided that one. Ector throws a low kick but it's checked well by Franlkin. Franlkin wants to clinch. A punch combination from Ector misses. Franlkin checks the leg kick nicely there.
Franlkin takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Ector defending well as Franlkin loads up on a big left hand. Franlkin misses with an uppercut. Franlkin is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Ector tries to clinch up. Franlkin takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Franlkin waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ector.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ector attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Franlkin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Franlkin misses with a straight left. Ector pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Franlkin scores with a nice hook to the head. Franlkin lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Ector backwards. A head punch blocked on the inside by Ector. Franlkin swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Franlkin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Ector lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
It looks like Richard Jay Franlkin has been cut. Ector takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Ector throws a lazy right hand but Franlkin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ector cracks Franlkin on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Franlkin falls backwards against the cage. Ector follows up with more strikes that drop Franlkin to his knees. Ector keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Franlkin! This one is all over!
