Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Vincent Escargesa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Walker! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker clinches up against the ropes. Walker blocks a body shot from Escargesa. The referee calls for Walker to work.
Walker stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. A head punch on the inside from Escargesa fails to land. I was talking to Escargesa's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Escargesa wants to break free but Walker has control.
Walker looking to slow down the pace here. A short right from Walker. Escargesa throws a head punch that misses. Walker digs a right hand underneath Escargesa's ribcage. Escargesa let out a lung full of air as it connected. Walker breaks the clinch.

A frustrated look appears on Escargesa's face as he tries to break the clinch. Walker tries to score a body lock takedown but Escargesa shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Walker prevents Escargesa from breaking the clinch. Escargesa misses with some punches.

Escargesa tries to circle away but Walker has him pinned against the ropes. Escargesa is fighting off a takedown attempt but Walker is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Escargesa to the mat. Escargesa regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Escargesa is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Escargesa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Escargesa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Walker is working away from the top position though. Walker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Escargesa's head. Walker slips a nice elbow through Escargesa's hands, connecting with Escargesa's forehead. Escargesa wants to control but Walker is keeping busy and won't allow it. Walker trying to control from half guard but Escargesa is working away. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Walker working Escargesa over with strikes. Walker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Escargesa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Escargesa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Escargesa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Walker, pushing him back against the ropes. Walker lands a right hand. Escargesa scores with a nice hook to the head. Walker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Escargesa is rocked! Walker throws a jab but it's blocked by Escargesa. Oh Escargesa is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Walker gets in close and instigates a clinch. Escargesa misses with a body punch.
Escargesa seems to have got his legs back now. Walker is trying to pull guard but Escargesa has him pressed against the ropes. Escargesa is trying to break free. Escargesa is looking to break free of the clinch but Walker has double underhooks. Walker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Escargesa throws a hook to the side of Walker's head but Walker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Walker has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Escargesa finds it's way round the side to connect with Walker's head. Escargesa darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Walker clinches up against the ropes. Escargesa is trying to push Walker away but Walker has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere. Walker manages to break the clinch.

and Walker counters with a straight right hand. Escargesa looks to throw the jab but Walker is out of range. Walker was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Walker has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Escargesa finds it's way round the side to connect with Walker's head. Sloppy strikes from Walker. Those never looked like landing. Escargesa is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Walker feints a jab promting Escargesa to slip. Walker then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Escargesa slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Walker throws a shot to the body.
Walker uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Escargesa. Walker throws a fast counter high kick but Escargesa manages to duck under it in time. Escargesa throws a shot from downtown. Walker moves away and avoids it. Escargesa throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A nice side step and Walker releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Escargesa clobbers Walker with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Escargesa scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Walker doesn't seem bothered though. Walker takes one on the button. Vincent Escargesa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Escargesa fails to land with a series of punches.

It seemed like Walker was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Escargesa bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Escargesa was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Walker throws a nice outside leg kick. Walker throws a head kick but Escargesa moves out of range.

Walker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Escargesa keeping moving, preventing Walker from controlling successfully. Walker is still on wobbly legs! Can Escargesa finish him? Escargesa throws a hook but Walker avoids it easily. Walker walks straight into a right hand from Escargesa - that's dropped him! Escargesa jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Walker from any more punishment! Walker complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
