Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felix De Sousa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Felix De Sousa is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeremy Schmidt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Felix De Sousa!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schmidt closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Schmidt lands in his opponent's guard.
De Sousa pulls Schmidt in close to prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that De Sousa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

De Sousa is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Schmidt's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Schmidt's back!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

De Sousa slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Schmidt is having to fend off submission attempts from De Sousa, who is looking to sink in the choke. De Sousa doesn't have the hooks in though and Schmidt manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Schmidt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. De Sousa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Felix De Sousa will probably get the nod.

De Sousa is fighting to break Schmidt's control of his arms but Schmidt is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

De Sousa throws an elbow that misses. Schmidt uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in De Sousa's guard. Nice move by Schmidt!

Schmidt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Schmidt fails with the takedown.
De Sousa feints the counter takedown.

De Sousa shoots in for a takedown but Schmidt shows good takedown defense.

Schmidt shoots in and drives through. De Sousa sprawls well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Schmidt circles away from the clinch attempt.

De Sousa fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Schmidt, pushing him back against the cage.

De Sousa defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Schmidt.

Felix De Sousa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Schmidt shoots in for a takedown but De Sousa shows good takedown defense.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
De Sousa throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

De Sousa moves into the clinch successfully.

Schmidt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

De Sousa is keen to just control but Schmidt is a slippery customer.

De Sousa working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Schmidt is not content to let De Sousa control the position.
De Sousa thows a huge punch but Schmidt dodges it nicely.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

De Sousa throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

And that's the end of the fight!
Felix De Sousa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well De Sousa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
