Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Rekis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Leonov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Rekis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to AC/DC - Thunderstruck. Yuri Leonov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rekis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Yuri Leonov! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rekis looks for a takedown but Leonov sprawls well. And Leonov tries to counter it with a takedown but Rekis pushes his down on his head and steps out. Leonov throws a leg kick but Rekis sees it coming and moves out of range. No luck with that takedown attempt from Rekis. Yuri Leonov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rekis tries for a takedown but Leonov circles away easily and Leonov counters with a shoot takedown. Rekis fights it but they end up in guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Rekis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Leonov wants to control from the top but Rekis keeps moving. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rekis is on top in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rekis is in close to Leonov's body, working some short punches and elbows. Rekis looking to pass the guard.

Rekis looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Leonov postures up.
Leonov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rekis is keeping the position for now. Rekis looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Rekis keeping full guard, as Leonov tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leonov advances to half guard. Rekis is staying active underneath Leonov, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Leonov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rekis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Leonov. Leonov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Rekis missing with punches from the bottom.

Rekis controlling the position for now. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Leonov is pressing down on Rekis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rekis is holding on for now. Rekis wants to improve his position but Leonov is controlling well.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. A clash of legs there as Rekis blocks the low kick. Rekis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Leonov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Leonov thows a leg kick but Rekis checks it and Rekis counters with a single leg into guard. Leonov didn't expect that. Leonov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rekis is one step ahead there. Leonov has control of Rekis's left arm, preventing Rekis from doing any damage. Leonov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Leonov is still trying to improve position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rekis landing with the ground and pound. Rekis drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Rekis seems to have locked his on tight now - Leonov screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Rekis, as he picks up the win!
