Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ron Shaffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viva Marquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Viva Marquez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ron Shaffer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Viva Marquez! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marquez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shaffer to the mat! Shaffer manages to get full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marquez pushes down on Shaffer's leg and manages to get into half guard. Marquez controlling the pace. The fighters are battling for position here. Shaffer manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Shaffer throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Marquez looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Marquez advances position into side control! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marquez throws an elbow but Shaffer slips to the side and avoids it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marquez is staying tight to Shaffer's torso, preventing him from escaping. Marquez looks up at the clock and then as Shaffer takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Marquez smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Marquez scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Shaffer to see if he's OK. Marquez just content to control the position. Marquez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Shaffer taking punishment in the form of punches.
Marquez passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Shaffer! Shaffer can't escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marquez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Shaffer to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Shaffer shrugs it off. Marquez controlling his opponent. Shaffer wants to hold on but Marquez pushes him away. Marquez looking to finish Shaffer with some ground and pound. This is bad for Shaffer! Shaffer tries to lock up and control but Marquez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Marquez goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Shaffer is on top in guard.
Marquez wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marquez controlling Shaffer's posture. Marquez's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Shaffer stopping the sweep attempt from Marquez. Shaffer throwing strikes but missing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Marquez looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Marquez wants to sweep but no luck. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Marquez is controlling Shaffer's posture.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Shaffer takes the fight into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Viva Marquez dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Shaffer gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Marquez to score an easy takedown into full guard. Marquez passes Shaffer's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shaffer is trying to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marquez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Viva Marquez has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. More stalling from Marquez. Marquez works his way into full mount! Marquez lands a big elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marquez wants to finish this one by submission but Shaffer is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Marquez. Marquez landing strikes, looking to finish! Shaffer is trying desperately to improve position. Marquez controlling from the full mount. Marquez with more of the same as he continues to hold on.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shaffer is trying to escape the mount.
Marquez controlling from mount. Shaffer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Marquez prevents Shaffer from getting the reversal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Marquez looking to control and managing it successfully. Shaffer keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Marquez avoids the attempt from Shaffer to control. Marquez controlling from mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Marquez is landing with some decent strikes but Shaffer is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Marquez controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Viva Marquez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

That's one minute gone in the round. Marquez wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Marquez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shaffer's guard.

Marquez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Marquez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shaffer swivels though and keeps the full guard. Marquez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Marquez swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Shaffer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marquez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shaffer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Marquez passes Shaffer's left leg - he's now in half guard. Marquez keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marquez is pressing down on Shaffer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Shaffer is holding on for now. Nice strikes from Marquez there. Marquez moves nicely into side control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Shaffer tries to strike but it doesn't land. Ron Shaffer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Viva Marquez is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Marquez takes a little break here. Shaffer wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
And that's the end of the fight! Viva Marquez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Marquez winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
