Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Destin Craven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Pen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Destin Craven! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregory Pen! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Craven shoots for a takedown but Pen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Pen misses with a looping left. A decent looking cross lands there for Pen. Craven ducks right into an uppercut from Pen. Craven bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pen is looking to regain half guard here but Craven keeps moving and retains side control. Craven throws an elbow but Pen slips to the side and avoids it well. Craven misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The strikes coming from Craven are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Craven wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pen keeps working. The ground and pound from Craven seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Pen has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Pen gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Pen keeping control of the position. Pen is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Craven slows the pace down in half guard. Craven seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pen for as long as he can get away with. Pen is looking to control Craven's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pen avoid being mounted? Pen moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Craven controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Craven won't allow Pen to sweep him here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Craven showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Craven trying to control but Pen is working from the bottom. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Craven stops Pen from standing up.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Pen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Pen tries for a takedown but Craven sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Pen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice takedown defense from Pen. No joy for Craven on that attempt. Craven tries to clinch but Pen moves out of range. Pen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Craven to the ground. Pen is now in Craven's guard. Pen postures up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pen throwing strikes from guard but Craven blocks nicely. Craven is trying to keep Pen in close.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Craven has control of Pen's left arm, preventing Pen from doing any damage. Craven has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Craven manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pen has Craven in his guard. Craven controls from within his opponent's guard. Pen wants to sweep here but Craven controlling him for the moment. Craven throwing strikes from guard but Pen blocks nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Pen is trying to control the position but Craven postures up. Craven stopping the sweep attempt from Pen. Pen keeping moving, preventing Craven from controlling successfully. Craven is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Craven trying to control the position from guard on top but Pen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Craven controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Pen wants to sweep here but Craven controlling him for the moment. Craven trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Craven is in close to Pen's body, working some short punches and elbows. Craven looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Pen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Destin Craven will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Craven closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Pen sneaks back into half guard. Craven takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Pen is defending against the submission attempts here by Craven.
Craven passes to side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pen is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Pen gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Pen trying to control from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Craven is keen to just control but Pen is a slippery customer. Pen avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Craven. Pen won't allow Craven to pass to mount. Pen is looking for a sweep. Craven is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Craven is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pen is just riding it out for now. Craven eventually gives up the hold. Craven is keen to just control but Pen is a slippery customer. Pen is defending against the submission attempts here by Craven.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pen trying to control but Craven postures up.
Craven is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pen tries to roll over but Craven keeps him under control. Pen moves into full guard.

Destin Craven dominated that second round. That's time! Craven's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Craven looks for a takedown but Pen sprawls well. Pen looks like he wants to counter punch here. Pen misses with a few strikes there.
Pen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Pen leaves Craven with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nice sprawl there from Pen as Craven shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Destin Craven. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Pen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Craven manages to avoid it. A punch combination from Pen misses. Craven shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Craven shoots in for a takedown but Pen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Destin Craven seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Craven will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

A lazy left from Pen finds it's target. Craven manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pen on his heels. He'll look to pass Pen's guard now, I'm sure. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gregory Pen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Craven pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pen is keeping the position for now. Craven is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Pen throws a right hand that Craven ducks under and follows up with a left that Craven also avoids with ease. Pen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Craven sprawls well initially but Pen persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Pen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Craven's head. Pen missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Pen not landing any meaningful shots this time. Pen lands strikes from half guard. Pen thumps the canvas. Pen throwing strikes from guard but Craven blocks nicely. Destin Craven is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pen throws a strike but Craven rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Craven not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Pen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Craven doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Craven manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Craven is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Pen is trying to control the position but Craven postures up.
And that's the end of the fight! Gregory Pen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Craven has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
