The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Melendez. That one must have hurt.
Silva swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Melendez shoots for a double leg takedown but Silva sprawls well. He's pushed Melendez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Melendez shoots in and drives through. Silva sprawls well.
Silva throws a counter combo.
Melendez tries for a takedown but Silva circles away easily
and Silva counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Silva.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jones Melendez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Melendez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Silva is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Melendez on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Silva scores with a big shot! Melendez's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Melendez! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
