PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Kerr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mike Kerr has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mike Kerr seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ken Shamrock!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kerr fails to land the takedown.
Kerr shoots in looking for a takedown. Shamrock tries to sprawl out of it but Kerr keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shamrock manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kerr wants to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kerr looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Shamrock closes the distance and clinches.
Shamrock lands a nice elbow from the clinch.


It looks like Mike Kerr has been cut.
Shamrock lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Shamrock pulls guard effortlessly.
Shamrock wants to stand but Kerr is controlling the position.
Kerr is pushing down on Shamrock's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shamrock is fighting to maintain full guard but Kerr has managed to sneak the leg through.

and Shamrock holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Shamrock stands up from Kerr's guard - Shamrock perhaps looking for a knockout.
Kerr misses with a takedown

and Shamrock decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kerr's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shamrock takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kerr doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Shamrock counters with a takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kerr is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kerr is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Shamrock pulls his head out easily.

Kerr shoots for a takedown but Shamrock saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kerr shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shamrock pinned against the cage. Shamrock gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Kerr counters with a shoot takedown. Shamrock fights it but they end up in guard.
Shamrock wants to get back to his feet but Kerr passes into half guard.

A close round but Ken Shamrock will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Kerr swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Kerr wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Shamrock.

Kerr makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kerr.

Kerr pulls Shamrock in close to prevent any damage.
Shamrock looking to sit in guard and control but Kerr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Kerr prevents Shamrock from getting back to his feet.
Ken Shamrock has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kerr thows a huge punch but Shamrock dodges it nicely.

Kerr is landing with some decent strikes but Shamrock is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shamrock can do anything to dispel that myth.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Shamrock is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kerr knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
