Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Jacobson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Patches Melone! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jorge Garcia and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacobson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Jacobson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Jacobson throws a strike but Melone avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Jacobson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Jacobson working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Jacobson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Melone avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Jacobson wants to control from the top but Melone keeps moving. Melone uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jacobson. And Melone tries to counter it with a takedown but Jacobson pushes his down on his head and steps out. Jacobson lands with a shot to the body. Jacobson looks to land a right hand but Melone moved out of range. Jacobson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Jacobson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Melone moves away. Melone is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
