Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Williams Harrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Gonzalez! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Francis DeMontford and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Harrison as Gonzalez shoots in. Gonzalez tries a head kick but it misses.
Gonzalez throws a push kick but Harrison slaps the foot to one side. It looked like Harrison wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Gonzalez throws a leg kick and Harrison counters with a takedown into side control. Harrison wants to control but Gonzalez is keeping him busy. Harrison working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Gonzalez tries to bench press Harrison off him but Harrison keeps the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Harrison. Harrison decides to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez has his takedown stuffed and Harrison counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Gonzalez gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. The referee calls for Harrison to work.

Gonzalez clinches up against the cage. Harrison dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Gonzalez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Harrison just stands there and leans against the cage. Williams Harrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Gonzalez. Harrison lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Harrison gets control of Gonzalez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Harrison will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Gonzalez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Harrison has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gonzalez has managed to get both his arms back between Harrison's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez with a nice head shot there. Harrison knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gonzalez on the ground. Gonzalez working some strikes from top position. Harrison keeping moving, preventing Gonzalez from controlling successfully. Harrison looking for a guillotine here but Gonzalez defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gonzalez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Harrison works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gonzalez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gonzalez wants to control from the top but Harrison keeps moving. Harrison escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gonzalez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harrison working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gonzalez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gonzalez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Harrison is breathing heavily. Gonzalez wants to control from the top but Harrison keeps moving. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Gonzalez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Harrison has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gonzalez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Gonzalez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Harrison at a distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gonzalez clinches. Harrison decides to pull guard. Gonzalez trying to control the position from guard on top but Harrison is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Harrison looking for a guillotine here but Gonzalez defends easily.
Gonzalez stands up over Harrison, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gonzalez passes into half guard. Gonzalez trying to control the action but Harrison is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Williams Harrison dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Gonzalez misses with a takedown and Harrison counters by moving into the clinch. Gonzalez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Harrison walks away with a smile on his face. Gonzalez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Gonzalez has Harrison up against the cage in a clinch.

Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Harrison as he jumps to the side. Harrison moves out of range as Gonzalez throws a body kick.
Harrison swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Gonzalez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Harrison counters with a nice uppercut. Harrison closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gonzalez did well to prevent Harrison getting side control. Harrison is keen to just control but Gonzalez is a slippery customer. Gonzalez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gonzalez. Gonzalez working for submissions but it's allowed Harrison to get to half guard.
Gonzalez is looking for a sweep. Harrison is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harrison is thwarting Gonzalez's attempts to control the position. Gonzalez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gonzalez. Harrison trying to control but Gonzalez is working from the bottom. Gonzalez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Harrison.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Harrison scores with a takedown into Gonzalez's guard. Gonzalez trying to control the position.

Gonzalez fails with a takedown attempt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Gonzalez. Harrison throws a nice looking combination but Gonzalez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Gonzalez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Harrison sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gonzalez somewhat. Williams Harrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Gonzalez. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez tries for a takedown but Harrison sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Gonzalez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Harrison has him pressed against the cage. Gonzalez is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Harrison is keeping busy. Harrison manages to pull guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gonzalez closes the distance and clinches. A frustrated look appears on Gonzalez's face as he tries to break the clinch. Gonzalez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Harrison gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Gonzalez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gonzalez wants to control from the top but Harrison keeps moving. Marcus Gonzalez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Williams Harrison is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Gonzalez connects with a couple of short punches.
And that's the end of the fight! Williams Harrison showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harrison, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
