Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jim Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rauno Taurkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Watson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rauno Taurkonen! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taurkonen scores with a takedown into Watson's guard. Taurkonen trying to move into half guard but instead Watson has managed to sweep! Watson stopping the sweep attempt from Taurkonen. Taurkonen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Watson trying to control the position from guard on top but Taurkonen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Watson tries to free his leg and advance position but Taurkonen is retaining full guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Taurkonen controlling the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Horrible takedown attempt by Taurkonen or perhaps it was just good defense by Watson, which made it look bad. A punch combination from Taurkonen misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Watson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Taurkonen, pushing him back against the cage. Taurkonen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Taurkonen lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Taurkonen looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Taurkonen is controlling the pace.

Watson wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Watson taking some punishment here, with Taurkonen in his half guard. Watson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Taurkonen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Watson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Watson is trying to stand back up but Taurkonen is controlling him
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Watson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Watson throws a head kick but Taurkonen moves out of range.
Watson throws a sloppy head kick and Taurkonen moves out of range easily. Taurkonen drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Watson defends it well. Watson tries to clinch up but Taurkonen circles away and keeps his distance. A slow jab from Taurkonen misses its intended target. Horrible takedown attempt by Taurkonen or perhaps it was just good defense by Watson, which made it look bad. Taurkonen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Taurkonen looks winded! Taurkonen wants to control but Watson is keeping him busy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taurkonen throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Taurkonen slows the pace down. Watson is trying to get back to his feet. Watson is not content to let Taurkonen control the position. Taurkonen is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Watson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. You can see the frustration on Watson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rauno Taurkonen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
A head kick misses from Watson. Jim Watson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Some wild striking there from Taurkonen.
Taurkonen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Watson moves away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Taurkonen. Watson throws a leg kick which misses Taurkonen's front leg but catches the back leg as Taurkonen tries to avoid it. Watson misses with the combination.

Taurkonen feints the counter takedown. Watson clinches. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Taurkonen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Watson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Taurkonen has him pressed against the cage. Watson has had enough of the clinch but Taurkonen keeps him there for the moment. Watson tries to break free but Taurkonen pushes him back against the cage. Watson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Taurkonen throws the left hand but Watson avoids the punch easily. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Taurkonen, as that shot connected.
Watson throws a sloppy head kick and Taurkonen moves out of range easily. Watson tries to bum rush Taurkonen with a series of wild strikes but Taurkonen uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Taurkonen is trying hard to land a takedown here. Watson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Watson closes the distance and clinches up with Taurkonen, looking for a takedown. Watson pushes Taurkonen against the cage but Taurkonen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Watson lands a nice looking kick to the body. Taurkonen takes a step back to recover. Watson throws a head kick that misses and Taurkonen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Watson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Taurkonen postures up and lands a big shot to Watson's brow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Taurkonen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Taurkonen controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Rauno Taurkonen has got the better of the ground game so far. Taurkonen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Taurkonen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Watson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
And that's the end of the fight! Jim Watson showed his dominance in that final round. I think Watson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
