Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bart Gamble! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kyle Mason! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gamble shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mason defends it nicely. Bart Gamble seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mason scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Mason is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mason is looking for a kimura but Gamble is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mason to get the leverage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mason is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gamble sees it coming and defends easily. Mason wants to work for an arm triangle but Gamble is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason wants to stand but Gamble has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Gamble is trying to maintain the position but Mason is very close to passing his half guard. Gamble is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mason is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mason wants to free his trapped foot but Gamble is holding on for dear life with his legs. Gamble desperately trying to maintain half guard. Gamble is trying to control but can't.
Mason is looking for a kimura but Gamble is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mason to get the leverage. Gamble could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Gamble has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mason is working away from the top position though. Mason prevents Gamble from improving his position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gamble shoots in but no luck this time. Mason changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Mason closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gamble's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gamble keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully. Mason engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Gamble keeping full guard, as Mason tries to pass. Gamble wants to stand up but Mason is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gamble looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mason is one step ahead there. Mason is looking to stand up but Gamble won't let him. Gamble keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully. Gamble is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gamble shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mason as he jumps to the side. Mason unleashes a big counter combination but Gamble bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kyle Mason dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bart Gamble's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Mason looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Mason is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gamble has managed to free his arm - good work. Gamble is looking to control Mason's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gamble avoid being mounted? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mason is looking for submissions but instead, Gamble has regained full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mason wants to control from the top but Gamble keeps moving. Mason has gone for a leg lock! Gamble slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mason's guard.
Gamble is posturing up here but Mason has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Gamble tries to roll out but it's too tight and Gamble has to tap! Slick submission there by Mason!
