Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marc Guifre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Corcoran! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Corcoran's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Corcoran duly obliges. Corcoran looks to land a left hand but Guifre moved out of range nicely. Corcoran stuffs the takedown. Corcoran thows a left - swing and a miss! Corcoran throws a big shot that misses. Guifre has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Corcoran finds it's way round the side to connect with Guifre's head. Corcoran throws a right and a left that Guifre avoids nicely. Corcoran misses with a looping left. Corcoran scores with a nice right hand.

Corcoran scores to the head and body with a nice combination! This has been an exciting period of action! Corcoran throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Corcoran ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Corcoran misses with a hook. Guifre ducked under it nicely. A big left from Corcoran misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Corcoran throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Guifre sees it coming and avoids it easily. Corcoran lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

James Corcoran seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Corcoran cracks Guifre with a right hand to the side of the head. Guifre shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Guifre gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Corcoran. Guifre ducks under a wild hook from Corcoran. Corcoran misses with a series of wild punches.
Guifre changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Corcoran looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Corcoran is looking to reverse the position. Guifre wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Corcoran, who protects the arm well. Guifre tries to move to mount but Corcoran blocks the move with his legs. You can see the frustration on Corcoran's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Guifre manages to hold on to the position though. Corcoran is trying to improve his position. Corcoran struggling a bit here. Corcoran really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guifre. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Guifre prevents Corcoran from escaping the position. Corcoran looks gassed! Guifre tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Guifre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Guifre tries to move to mount but Corcoran blocks the move with his legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Corcoran wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Guifre has knee on belly and moves into mount. Corcoran has given up his back.
Corcoran is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Guifre gets his way!

Guifre looking to break Corcoran's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Corcoran remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Guifre will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Corcoran rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Guifre is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Corcoran is just riding it out for now. Guifre eventually gives up the hold. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Corcoran dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Guifre shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Corcoran but Corcoran pushes him off and we're back to square one. Corcoran uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Guifre has time to react. Guifre on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Guifre closes the distance and clinches up with Corcoran, looking for a takedown. Guifre pushes Corcoran against the ropes but Corcoran circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Guifre takes a jab right on the kisser.
Guifre shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Guifre was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Corcoran is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Corcoran wants to hold on but Guifre pushes him away. Guifre working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Guifre forces the positional change into back control. Corcoran just trying to survive but Guifre is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guifre is persistently looking for the submission but Corcoran is defending it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Guifre patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Guifre working for the choke. Corcoran wants to get back to his feet. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Corcoran breaks Guifre's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Corcoran wants to get up but he can't break Guifre's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Guifre looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Guifre keeping moving, preventing Corcoran from controlling successfully. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Corcoran wants to stand but Guifre is controlling his posture from full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Corcoran sizes up Guifre with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Corcoran cracks Guifre with a good jab. Corcoran throws an overhand right that lands on Guifre's shoulder, as Guifre tries to avoid the shot. A left and a right from Corcoran both land. Nice combination. Corcoran swinging wilding here.
Corcoran will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Guifre feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Corcoran pulls Guifre in close to his closed guard and prevents Guifre from doing any damage or advancing position. Corcoran is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Guifre passes Corcoran's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guifre is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Corcoran sees it coming and defends easily. Corcoran trying to control but Guifre postures up.
