Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bung Popper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reesalo Cherubim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bung Popper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Reesalo Cherubim! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Bruno Hogan and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Popper shoots in looking for a takedown. Cherubim tries to sprawl out of it but Popper keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cherubim manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Bung Popper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Good leg kick by Cherubim there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Popper darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Cherubim makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cherubim. Cherubim wants to stand but Popper is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Popper in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Cherubim wants to sweep but no luck. Popper avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Popper got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cherubim has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Popper has managed to get both his arms back between Cherubim's legs - danger averted. Cherubim is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Cherubim tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cherubim has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Popper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Popper is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Popper lands a couple of elbows. Popper makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Cherubim looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Popper is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Popper landing some decent shots from guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Cherubim has momentary wrist control but Popper slips an elbow through the middle. Popper scoring with some ground and pound. Popper is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Popper drops back looking for a leg! Cherubim is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cherubim manages to kick Popper off! Popper jumps back into Cherubim's guard. Popper throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cherubim works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Popper stands up over Cherubim, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Cherubim working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Popper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Popper manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cherubim is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Popper is controlling him. Popper preventing the sweep. Popper postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Popper is in close to Cherubim's body, working some short punches and elbows. Popper makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Popper's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Cherubim looking for a sweep. Not yet Cherubim, not yet. Cherubim is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Popper frees his head nicely. Oh but Cherubim has switched to an armbar! Popper is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
