PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Stoner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leee Murray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Stoner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Leee Murray!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Murray.
Stoner fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Stoner displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Stoner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Stoner works over Murray's head and body with a nice combination.
Stoner looks for a takedown but Murray sprawls well.
Stoner throws a head kick but Murray moves out of range.
Stoner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Murray moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Murray feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Stoner has Murray pulled in close to control his posture.
Murray in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Stoner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Stoner tries to get out of the position.

Murray passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Murray wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stoner keeps working.

Murray stands up.

Murray fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Murray looks gassed!
Stoner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Murray moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Stoner keeps the fight on the outside.
Stoner throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Murray counters with a left to the body.

Stoner clinches up against the ropes.

Murray gets control of Stoner's arms and successfully pulls guard. Murray will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Stoner has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Murray will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Murray throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Murray is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stoner is controlling him.

Stoner stands and steps away. Murray gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Stoner tries for a takedown but Murray sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Stoner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Murray avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stoner takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Murray lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Stoner fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A combination from Murray does no damage.
Ben Stoner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stoner lands with a right hand.
Murray stuffs the takedown.
Stoner tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Murray cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Murray stalks Stoner and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Stoner's face. Stoner staggers backwards, shaken.
Stoner throws a good cross that connects.
Stoner has a takedown stuffed.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stoner works the jab nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leee Murray dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Murray shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Stoner's guard.
Stoner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Murray on the ground.

Murray pushes down on Stoner's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Stoner is trying to keep Murray in close.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Murray drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stoner manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Murray has Stoner in his guard.

Murray is looking to stand up but Stoner isn't so interested in that idea.
Stoner controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Murray keeping moving, preventing Stoner from controlling successfully.
Murray wants to stand up but Stoner is controlling him.
Stoner is stalling in the full guard.

Murray is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stoner is controlling him.
Stoner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stoner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Stoner controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Murray is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Stoner dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Leee Murray will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Stoner tries to clinch but Murray is having none of it.

and Stoner counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Stoner has taken the fight to the clinch.
Murray drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Stoner has his hands on Murray's head, controlling the position.
Stoner wants to stand up but Murray is controlling him.
Ben Stoner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Murray won't allow Stoner to sweep him here.

Murray is looking to stand up but Stoner isn't so interested in that idea.
Stoner is looking to work some ground and pound but Murray has wrist control.
Murray is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stoner is controlling him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Stoner scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Stoner throws a shot to the body.
Stoner throws a series of strikes that have Murray backpedaling.
Stoner lunges at Murray with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Murray's hand.
Murray lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Stoner backs up against the ropes.
Murray throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

so Stoner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Murray tries to strike from the bottom.
Murray being controlled here, momentarily.
Murray wants to get back to his feet but Stoner is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stoner sitting in guard here, content to control.
Stoner wants to control from the top but Murray keeps moving.
Murray bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stoner's guard.
Leee Murray is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Stoner is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ben Stoner showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Murray has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
