Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brad Castro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Beleleu Petkovic! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Petkovic gets caught napping as Castro dives in and scores a takedown. Petkovic manages to retain guard. Petkovic wants to get back to his feet but Castro is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Castro has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Petkovic is proving hard to escape from. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Castro throwing strikes from guard but Petkovic blocks nicely. Petkovic wants to stand but Castro is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castro with a flurry of punches that miss. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Petkovic wants to stand but Castro is controlling the position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Petkovic changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Castro looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Castro prevents Petkovic from improving position. Castro is looking for a sweep. Castro throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land. Petkovic controlling the position from side mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Castro is trying to get back to half guard. Petkovic trying to control the action but Castro is working from the bottom. Castro taking a bit of punishment here - Petkovic scoring with strikes. Petkovic wants to lay and pray for a moment but Castro keeps working. Castro tries to get back to half guard but can't. Petkovic is looking to take a break and control but Castro is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Castro really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petkovic scores with punches from side control. Castro is looking for a sweep. Petkovic trying to control the position but Castro is working away. Petkovic tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Castro tries to get back to half guard but can't. Petkovic tries to move into full mount but can't pass Castro's legs. Petkovic trying to control the action but Castro is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Castro tries to strike from the bottom but misses. Petkovic lands an elbow. Castro tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Petkovic wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Castro is not content to let Petkovic control the position. Petkovic working away. Petkovic wants to lay and pray for a moment but Castro keeps working. Castro prevents Petkovic from improving position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Petkovic keeps trying to improve his position. Petkovic trying to control the action but Castro is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Beleleu Petkovic dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Castro takes the fight into the clinch. Castro tries to pull guard but Petkovic forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Petkovic controlling the action here for a moment.
Castro tries to land knees in the clinch but Petkovic avoids the damage to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Castro tries for a takedown. No joy.
Castro is working for takedown but Petkovic is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Castro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Castro tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Petkovic has picked Castro up - he's going for a ride! Petkovic dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petkovic uses his free foot to push down on Castro's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Castro. Castro is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Castro is trying to stand up. Petkovic landing strikes from the mount. BOOM! Petkovic connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Castro is rocked! Petkovic lands a big elbow - Castro is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Castro is forced to tap out!
