Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Weston Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weston Hernandez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Weston Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Travis James!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
James looking to pass the guard.

James prevents Hernandez from getting back to his feet.
James postures up.
James slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hernandez throws a leg kick but James moved away.
James tries to counter by closing the distance.

James shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than James was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
James controls the position from side control.

James is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hernandez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
James wants to stand but Hernandez has his arm trapped.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Hernandez tries to improve position but can't.
Hernandez is being controlled here.
James wants to control but Hernandez is keeping him busy.
James is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hernandez's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James tries to stand but Hernandez is controlling his head.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Hernandez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
James tries a head kick but it misses.
Hernandez feinted with a counter takedown.
Weston Hernandez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hernandez tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hernandez to the ground. Hernandez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hernandez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
James is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Hernandez with a body shot.
James fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hernandez avoids it really well and circles away.
James misses with a low kick.
James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hernandez.

Hernandez gets tackled into the cage by James. James maintains the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hernandez tries to pull guard but James forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

James jumps guard.
Hernandez postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth.
James looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hernandez won't allow James to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travis James dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


James tries to clinch up but Hernandez circles away and keeps his distance.
James avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
James shoots for a takedown but Hernandez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
James scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Weston Hernandez has been cut.
Hernandez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from James.

James gets a takedown into half guard.
Hernandez is looking to control James's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hernandez avoid being mounted?
Hernandez wants to get back to full guard but James has mounted him!

Hernandez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
James has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hernandez has given up his back here. Will James look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Hernandez is trapped and James is scoring with shots to the head and body.

James is persistently looking for the submission but Hernandez is defending it well.
James controlling from the back.

James is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hernandez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
James is not going to allow Hernandez to sit and survive in this position.

What can Hernandez do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
James connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Hernandez to escape the position.
A bit of a pause in the action here. James controlling the positon.

James is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hernandez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
James slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
James throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Hernandez!
James is not going to allow Hernandez to sit and survive in this position.

James has good solid back control here.
James keeps control of the position as Hernandez tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travis James showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Weston Hernandez's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


James will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
James tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hernandez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
James shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hernandez as he jumps to the side.

Hernandez has James up against the cage in a clinch.
Hernandez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as James walks away with a smile on his face. Hernandez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Hernandez sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Weston Hernandez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Travis James.
James connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Hernandez keeps the fight on the outside.

James is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
James is looking to land body kicks.

Excellent takedown into side control there by James.
James wants to stand but Hernandez is controlling his arm.
Hernandez tries to improve position but can't.
Hernandez struggling a bit here.

Hernandez is looking for a sweep.
Hernandez wants to control but James postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hernandez tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but James presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Hernandez is bucking up trying to escape but James cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

James is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hernandez has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hernandez!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hernandez with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
James is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hernandez is controlling him.
James pulls Hernandez in close to his closed guard and prevents Hernandez from doing any damage or advancing position.
James is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hernandez is really struggling to control James but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Weston Hernandez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Travis James is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

James wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Travis James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got James winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
