The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikolaev tries to clinch up.
Belo drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Nikolaev defends it well.
Belo smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Belo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Belo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Belo lands an overhand right.
Nikolaev bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A low kick from Belo misses
and Nikolaev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nikolaev's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Nikolaev duly obliges.
Timoteo Belo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Belo throws a sloppy head kick and Nikolaev moves out of range easily.
Donk. Belo catches Nikolaev right on the button with a cross.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nikolaev displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Belo throws out the jab.
Nikolaev throws a left and a right that both miss

and Belo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Nikolaev is trying to control the position but Belo postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Belo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Belo won't allow Nikolaev to sweep him here.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Nikolaev lands a couple of digs.
Nikolaev arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Belo's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
