The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendes was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Mendes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Miletich.
Chad Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some bone on bone action there as Miletich checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Miletich has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Mendes seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Miletich can turn it around.

Miletich stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Miletich gets a double leg takedown into Mendes's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Miletich drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Mendes dives on top into guard.

Mendes tries to stand but Miletich is controlling from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mendes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Miletich misses with a looping left.
Miletich slips under a jab.
Miletich lands a jab to the head.
A lazy left from Mendes finds it's target.
Miletich slips a straight right by Mendes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Breannain Miletich dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Miletich lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mendes misses with a body shot.
Miletich cracks a nice hook into Mendes's ribs.
No joy there for Miletich, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Miletich goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Jab, jab by Miletich - just one landing.
Oh Mendes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Miletich will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mendes misses with a straight left.
Miletich circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Mendes to the canvas! Mendes doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Miletich keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
