PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Longstreet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Christopher Longstreet!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Stout!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Longstreet throws a body shot but no joy.
Longstreet misses with a hook.
Longstreet moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Longstreet throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Stout has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Stout uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Longstreet.
Longstreet leaves Stout with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Longstreet takes a swing at Stout's ribcage but misses.
Stout thinks about the counter body kick.
A punch combination from Longstreet misses.

Stout closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Longstreet's guard.
Stout content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stout accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stout sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Longstreet controls Stout momentarily but Stout frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Longstreet is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stout is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Stout trying to control but Longstreet is working from the bottom.
Stout is stalling in the full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Longstreet avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Longstreet not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Christopher Longstreet is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Longstreet throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Longstreet looks to score with a jab to the body but Stout is just out of range.
Stout let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Stout bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A countering left hand to the body from Stout misses.
Stout misses with a series of wild punches.
Longstreet throwing a counter right hand but Stout manages to avoid it.

Longstreet scores with a jab to the body.
Stout throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Longstreet's waist but Longstreet gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stout off to one side.
An attempted straight right counter from Longstreet misses the target.
Longstreet jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Stout appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Stout feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Longstreet avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Stout scoring with some ground and pound.
Stout seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Stout won't allow Longstreet to sweep him here.

Longstreet looking to control.
Stout wants to pass the guard but Longstreet is keeping the position.
Longstreet wants to sweep but no luck.
Stout wants to control from the top but Longstreet keeps moving.
Stout scoring with punches to the head and body.
Stout with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Stout trying to control but Longstreet is working from the bottom.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Stout keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Longstreet's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stout won't allow Longstreet to sweep him here.
Stout pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Longstreet is keeping the position for now.
Stout postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Stout looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Longstreet is fending him off so far but Stout persists. Nope, Longstreet circles away and we're back to standing.
Longstreet swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Christopher Longstreet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Stout.
Longstreet missing with a left hand there. Stout was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Longstreet fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Stout closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Longstreet quickly recovers to half guard.
Stout looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Longstreet with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Longstreet manages to get to full guard.
Longstreet looking for a sweep. Not yet Longstreet, not yet.
Stout is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Christopher Longstreet will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Longstreet swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Longstreet throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Stout makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Longstreet really felt that one!
Longstreet slips under a jab from Stout.
Stout rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Longstreet cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Longstreet throws a poor cross that misses
and Stout counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Longstreet moves out of range of the body kick.
Longstreet is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Longstreet throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Longstreet throws a body punch but Stout moves out of range.
Longstreet looks to land a right hand but Stout moved out of range.
Christopher Longstreet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Longstreet swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Stout changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Stout takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Longstreet is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Longstreet throws a shot from downtown. Stout moves away and avoids it.
A little jabbing left from Stout on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Longstreet looks to land a right hand but Stout moved out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stout moves away from the strike by Longstreet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Longstreet. Stout does a little dance to reset his feet.
Longstreet scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Longstreet ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stout moves away.

Stout darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Stout missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Longstreet is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stout lands strikes from half guard.
Stout throws a strike but Longstreet avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Stout working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Stout stands up over Longstreet, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stout with a nice head shot there.
Stout has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Stout landing with the ground and pound.
Longstreet utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Longstreet can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stout controls the pace.
Stout trying to control the position from guard on top but Longstreet is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Longstreet is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Longstreet throws a strike but Stout avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Longstreet is looking to advance position but Stout has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stout lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Longstreet takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Stout's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Stout!
