Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael Belanger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Belanger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Armstrong! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Armstrong cracks a nice hook into Belanger's ribs. Belanger blocks a head kick by Armstrong.
Belanger manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Armstrong on his heels. He'll look to pass Armstrong's guard now, I'm sure. Belanger throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Belanger wants to pass the guard but Armstrong is keeping the position. Armstrong looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Armstrong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Belanger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Belanger working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Armstrong is looking to stand up but Belanger isn't so interested in that idea. Belanger pushes down on Armstrong's leg and manages to get into half guard. Armstrong wants to get back to his feet.
Belanger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Armstrong has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Belanger is working away from the top position though. Belanger thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Belanger thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Armstrong's head.

Armstrong is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Armstrong tries to kick Belanger off but Belanger keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Belanger not landing any meaningful shots this time. Armstrong tries to roll over but Belanger keeps him under control. Belanger slips a nice elbow through Armstrong's hands, connecting with Armstrong's forehead. Armstrong tries to get to full guard but Belanger has control of the leg. Armstrong trying to hold on to Belanger's head to control him but Belanger postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Armstrong can do anything to dispel that myth.

Armstrong might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Belanger haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Armstrong is trying to stand up here but Belanger is controlling him well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Armstrong is trying to control but can't.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Armstrong scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Belanger tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Armstrong paws at him with a jab and circles away. Armstrong catches Belanger with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michael Belanger dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Belanger shoots in for a double leg but Armstrong sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Armstrong looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Armstrong pushes Belanger up against the cage in a clinch. Belanger is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Armstrong is defending well. Armstrong lands an uppercut. Armstrong avoiding damage.
Belanger has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Armstrong avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Belanger. Armstrong lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Belanger backwards. Armstrong lands a nice shot to the body. Armstrong makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Armstrong is working Belanger over against the cage. Armstrong misses with a shot to the kidneys.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Armstrong just misses with a elbow thrown towards Belanger's brow. Armstrong lands a shoulder strike. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The referee is keeping an eye on Armstrong - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Armstrong lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. That kick from Armstrong tenderised Belanger's leg. Belanger is trying to keep his angry face on. Armstrong smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. The crowd cheers as Armstrong lands an impressive looking overhand right. Belanger doesn't seem phased though. Armstrong goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Armstrong looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Belanger gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Belanger tries for a takedown but Armstrong sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Armstrong was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Armstrong lands a two punch combo.

Jay Armstrong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Belanger's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Michael Belanger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Armstrong shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Belanger eats them both and turns towards Armstrong to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Belanger tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Armstrong defends well and Belanger ends up having to push Armstrong into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Belanger tries to move into range but Armstrong moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Jay Armstrong is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Armstrong lands with a nice body punch. Armstrong moves into the clinch successfully.

Armstrong throws a nice outside leg kick. Armstrong feints and then cracks Belanger's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Belanger down. Armstrong scoring well with a low kick there.

Belanger darts in looking for a takedown but Armstrong gets double underhooks and turns Belanger into the cage. A nice leg kick lands there from Armstrong. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Belanger. Armstrong throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Belanger.
And that's the end of the fight! Jay Armstrong comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Armstrong has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
