Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex McUshin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pablo Bogdynski! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Bogdynski. Bogdynski gets tackled into the cage by McUshin. McUshin maintains the clinch. McUshin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
McUshin rushes Bogdynski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. McUshin looking to slow down the pace here. Bogdynski is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McUshin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. McUshin lands a shoulder strike. Bogdynski is trying to pull guard but McUshin turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. McUshin's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. McUshin drags the fight down to the ground.
Bogdynski wants to control from the top but McUshin keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. McUshin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Bogdynski controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Bogdynski in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. McUshin wants to get back to his feet but Bogdynski is in a dominant position and won't allow it. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Bogdynski fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Bogdynski has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as McUshin is landing a low percentage of strikes. Alex McUshin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Bogdynski. McUshin moves into the clinch. Bogdynski drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. McUshin is defending well against a takedown attempt. McUshin throws a knee to the head but misses.
McUshin breaks the clinch.
McUshin rushes Bogdynski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Bogdynski takes a knee right on the jaw!
Bogdynski breaks from the clinch.
McUshin moves into the clinch. McUshin wants to stall.
McUshin manages to break the clinch.
McUshin drives through with a takedown into Bogdynski's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. McUshin throwing strikes but missing. McUshin postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bogdynski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McUshin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Bogdynski is tightening it up a little... McUshin has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! McUshin reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! McUshin taps out! Nice BJJ there by Bogdynski!
