Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tahi Toru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Payne!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Summer Carpenter and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toru tries to land a front kick but Payne steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Payne misses with a series of wild punches.
Toru shoots in for a double leg but Payne sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Payne shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Payne showed some decent athleticism there.
Toru wants to improve his position but Payne is controlling well.
Payne seems to be looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Payne passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Toru!
Payne avoids the attempt from Toru to control.

Payne wants to finish this one by submission but Toru is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Payne.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Payne is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Toru has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Toru tries to escape but Payne has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Payne is looking for the choke from the back position but Toru is controlling his hands well.
Payne connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Toru to escape the position.
Payne is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Toru knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Toru for a finish.

Payne lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Payne.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Payne controlling the positon.

Toru is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Toru tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Payne paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Toru tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Payne was well out of range. Poor timing from Toru.
Payne looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
We've been informed that Payne has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Toru misses with a head kick.
Toru looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Toru is looking to clinch.
Payne keeps the fight on the outside.
Payne misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Payne rushes Toru and presses him up against the cage.
Toru using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Payne has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Toru tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Payne tries to pull guard but Toru holds him up against the cage and eventually Payne drops back down to his feet.

Payne gets control of Toru's arms and successfully pulls guard. Payne will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Toru looking to sit in guard and control but Payne gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Toru is trying to keep Payne in close.
Payne cracks Toru with a solid left hand.
Toru keeping full guard, as Payne tries to pass.
Toru isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Payne stacks Toru on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Payne!

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Toru tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Payne presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Payne breaks from Toru's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Toru wants to hold on but Payne pushes him away.
Toru is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Payne postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Toru in real trouble here! The ref calls for Toru to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
