PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Jameson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Trager (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trager comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bang Bang kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Jameson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Trager!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jameson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jameson throws a lazy head kick

and Trager holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Trager wants the takedown. Jameson is fighting it off but Trager persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jameson's guard against the cage.
Trager postures up in Jameson's guard and throws a big left but Jameson blocks it.
Jameson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Trager.
Jameson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Trager is controlling him.
Trager slips nicely into half guard.

Trager is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jameson defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jameson is looking to escape.

Trager is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jameson has managed to free his arm - good work.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Trager connects with a nice short shot to Jameson's temple.
Jameson is trying to get back to full guard.

Trager is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jameson is just riding it out for now. Trager eventually gives up the hold.

Jameson thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Trager if he has to take too many more of those.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jameson throws a shot to the body.
Jameson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Trager manages to avoid it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jameson. Trager does a little dance to reset his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jameson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Trager checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Trager drives through with a takedown into Jameson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Trager stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jameson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Trager had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jameson defends it easily.

Trager is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Trager has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jameson stands and steps away. Trager gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Trager goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jameson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Trager's guard! Nice work there by Jameson!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That was a close second round but I would say that James Jameson will probably get the nod.

Jameson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

and Trager counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Trager shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jameson but Jameson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Alex Trager comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Trager has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
