Barbaro kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Fight - Future World Music. De Turenne has chosen Dark Tranquility- Final Resistance as his entrance music. Joe Barbaro has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Comte De Turenne!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barbaro scores with a nice head shot.
Barbaro throws a head kick but De Turenne moves out of range.
De Turenne takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Barbaro throws a push kick but De Turenne slaps the foot to one side.
De Turenne avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
De Turenne needs to keep his hands up - Barbaro had a free shot at his head there.
Barbaro loads up on a big right hand but De Turenne slips the punch.
De Turenne is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barbaro tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
De Turenne feints the counter takedown.
De Turenne avoids the body shot from Barbaro.
Barbaro fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. De Turenne looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

De Turenne avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Barbaro scores with a shot to the body.
Barbaro fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but De Turenne is out of range.
And De Turenne tries to counter it with a takedown but Barbaro pushes his down on his head and steps out.

and De Turenne counters with a takedown into side control.

De Turenne is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Barbaro has escaped the position, nice work there.

De Turenne tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no De Turenne has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Barbaro manages to work his way to half guard, despite De Turenne's best efforts.

De Turenne is working for a submission of some sort.

De Turenne is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

De Turenne is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barbaro is just riding it out for now. De Turenne eventually gives up the hold.

De Turenne is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Barbaro defends it well.

Barbaro is trying is best to control the position here.

De Turenne is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Barbaro moves into full guard.

De Turenne has gone for a leg lock! Barbaro slips out almost immediately though and dives into De Turenne's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Barbaro works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Barbaro wants to free his trapped foot but De Turenne is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barbaro wants to pass to mount but De Turenne is defending the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Barbaro postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for De Turenne to stand up.
De Turenne on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Joe Barbaro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Barbaro clobbers De Turenne with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Barbaro missing with a left hand there. De Turenne was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Barbaro punishes De Turenne's body with a nice straight punch.
Barbaro tries to close the distance and clinch up but De Turenne swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Barbaro fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Barbaro scores with a kick to the midsection.

It looks like Comte De Turenne has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barbaro misses with a few strikes there.
Barbaro throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
De Turenne tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Barbaro knocks De Turenne to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?


De Turenne is rocked!

Barbaro slows the pace down.
De Turenne is still in real trouble! Can Barbaro finish him?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Turenne is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
De Turenne seems to have recovered his senses.
De Turenne manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

De Turenne wants to work for an arm triangle but Barbaro is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Barbaro is pressing down on De Turenne's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

I was talking to Barbaro's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
De Turenne changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Barbaro fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Joe Barbaro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Comte De Turenne.
Barbaro throws a right hand that De Turenne ducks under and follows up with a left that De Turenne also avoids with ease.
Barbaro dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on De Turenne. That did some damage!

De Turenne tries to keep at a distance but Barbaro has taken the fight into the clinch.
Barbaro unloads a knee to the mid-section. De Turenne lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
De Turenne has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Barbaro avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Barbaro digs a right hand underneath De Turenne's ribcage. De Turenne let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Barbaro makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Barbaro lands with a right to the head.
De Turenne is working for takedown but Barbaro is calmly controlling the position for now.

Barbaro breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Barbaro rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but De Turenne moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Barbaro throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as De Turenne stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Barbaro follows into mount!

Barbaro is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that De Turenne can do to turn this around?
De Turenne is desperately trying to improve his position but Barbaro has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Barbaro paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Barbaro is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Barbaro lands with a shot to the body.
Barbaro throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Barbaro connects with a good right hand that stumbles De Turenne. De Turenne circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Joe Barbaro is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Barbaro throws a monster overhand right that drops De Turenne! Barbaro follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Barbaro!
