Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Earnest Murray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Gurr!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Gurr.

Gurr gets a clinch.
Gurr comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Earnest Murray has been cut.
Gurr prevents the takedown attempt.
A left hand lands to the body for Gurr.

Gurr breaks from the clinch.
Murray closes the distance and clinches up with Gurr, looking for a takedown. Murray pushes Gurr against the cage but Gurr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Gurr! But no joy.
Gurr swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gurr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Murray moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Murray tries to counter by clinching up but Gurr breaks away and moves out of range.
Murray fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Earnest Murray. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gurr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Gurr manages to break the clinch.

Gurr gets a double leg takedown into Murray's guard.
Gurr throwing strikes but missing.
Gurr postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Murray has momentary wrist control but Gurr slips an elbow through the middle.

Gurr avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Murray is breathing heavily.
Gurr prevents Murray from getting back to his feet.
Gurr trying to control but Murray is working from the bottom.
Gurr trying to stand up but can't free himself from Murray's guard.

Gurr is working Murray over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Gurr wants to control from the top but Murray keeps moving.

Murray working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gurr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gurr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Gurr is working Murray over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Murray working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gurr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gurr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gurr gets to his feet - Murray follows without any prompting.
Murray tries for a takedown but Gurr circles away easily
and Gurr counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Murray badly! Gurr follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Murray out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Gurr finished him against the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Joe Gurr!
