Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gale Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jaques Davasco!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roy tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davasco sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Roy somewhat.
Roy shoots in for a double leg but Davasco sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Davasco lands a head kick!


It looks like Gale Roy has been cut.
Jaques Davasco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Roy enables Davasco to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Roy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Davasco decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Roy tries to clinch there but Davasco circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Davasco counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Davasco.

Roy is fighting off a takedown attempt but Davasco is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Roy to the mat. Roy regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Roy wants to sweep but no luck.

Roy has his foot on Davasco's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davasco works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Davasco stands up and waves to Roy to follow him.
Davasco goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Davasco shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Davasco showed some decent athleticism there.
Davasco is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Roy is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davasco frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Davasco manages to capitalize on a mistake by Roy to take his back!
Davasco misses with a punch to the head.
Davasco is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Davasco misses with punches from the back.

Davasco tries to bum rush Roy with a series of wild strikes but Roy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Roy is defended easily by Davasco.
Roy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Davasco defends it nicely.

and Davasco counters with a nice uppercut.

Davasco stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davasco wants it to stay on the feet.

Davasco clinches with his opponent.
Oh Roy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Davasco breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Davasco darts in and clinches Roy up against the cage.
Davasco jerks Roy's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Roy drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Davasco goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Davasco because Roy was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Jaques Davasco!
